Invitation withdrawn

Looking ahead in terms of the allegations against Manchester City, seeing as it is the PL who are overseeing the charges against them then they also face another dilemma regarding next season’s Champions League.

Whilst it is currently the top 4 finishers in the PL who qualify for the CL, this is still an invitation and not a guarantee that all clubs in the top4 will go forward.

It is within the PL Executives purview to withdraw City’s invitation to represent the PL in the CL. It would be strange if a corporate body allowed City to represent them if they are themselves accusing that club of very serious misconduct with their financial reporting..

Surely it is the FA that both grant licenses to play in Europe and decide who to put forward for each competition, no?

Innocent until proven guilty right? The accuser also deciding on the CL invitation is a massive conflict of interest.

City and conflict of interest. Oh the irony..

The FA have proved to be weak, useless and completely inept countless times down the years. Complete backwards re t a Rd 5 stuck in 66, that have failed our domestic and our International Game.

They'd f @c kuP beans on toast.

The PL probably have the power to suspend them BUT if you were going to suspend them on the grounds of integrity of the competition, you would do so for their involvement in the PL, and that aint ever going to happen.

If they are found guilty then one would expect the expulsion from the UCL at that time.

There is an independent body handling the investigation which leaves the PL the final decision if the charges are upheld.

Yes. Not what you said in your OP though.

I will make it simple for you. The PL are the ultimate body with the power to take whatever action the see fit. They have appointed an independent KC to examine the charges and report back to the PL Executive who will determine what punishment will be determined, if any. Is that better?🤔

They won’t ban them before being found guilty, if they did and somehow found not guilty the compensation pay out would be massive

I was going to add that.

I think City's PL income was £80m last year, even more the year before.
