I know it's early days, but what do we think so far? Worth a punt or give him back. I can't decide, he's done nothing bad, but nothing really good. He needs to impress a bit more to stay imo.
Side issue, I never thought Rashy could be a good striker, I was wrong.
Sabitzer

Yes we might pay £50m on a player but not Sabitzer who was only purchased for €16m a couple years ago, hasn’t don’t much at Bayern, as a result isn’t needed by them anymore and has only 18 months left on his contract.
Also it’s clear that our transfer dealings have changed since Ed left so pointless comparing the Ed era of transfer dealings to today.

If the FFP issues melt away and the new owners have zillions to invest, I can't see us paying £40-50m on a player of Sabitzer's profile. Nothing to do with whether he's good enough, but a case of priorities at a time of limited budget. Going into the summer, our midfield really needs a player of the FDJ type (excellent at receiving the ball on the turn from defence) which we currently don't have at all. Even Eriksen, on whom we've relied for build-up, isn't exactly that sort of press-resistant player. We could also do with a back-up to Casemiro as a specialist defensive screen. Watching two games of Frabitzer vs Leeds surely underlines the vulnerabilities of our midfield (depth) and also that Sabitzer (again, talking about profile rather than quality) doesn't tick either of those boxes. Maguire with the ball at his feet in turns depressed and terrified me yesterday, but for all his ponderousness and unreliability, it seemed clear that he had been instructed not to pass directly to the CMs. If we had Eriksen in there (let alone Frenkie) I'm sure that wouldn't have been the case.
Obviously, there are other positions that require investment too. I'm open to keeping Sabitzer: will be interesting to see how he settles in, especially with Casemiro in the side. I don't think we can afford to spend a big chunk of our budget on him, though.

Targeting someone else like FDJ might very well stop something like this happening, yes. Plus the need for a CF I agree would probably stop this. In isolation, I would happily take him from the little I’ve seen

He’s was bought to start from a team who had no desire or need to sell. If you can’t tell the difference then you’re an idiot as well as a Tory c-nt.

Wow. You’re a polite chap, aren’t you?
Yes Antony was brought in to start, congratulations. He also cost more than double than the £40m I’m talking about and hasn’t exactly been the second coming of Ronaldo 2003.
Oh and FYI - if you’re going to call someone an idiot, best not to make glaring grammatical errors whilst doing so.

The other thing I'd say is if we were to sell one or both of Fred and McT, the picture might change in terms of needing an extra '8' in the squad and having a bit more to spend.

Yeah that’s fair.
I honestly couldn’t articulate what it is that I see in him that makes me a fan. I guess I just think he’s better than we have currently on the bench. We’ve seen how results vary when our midfield goes back to McFred.

And we won't spend £50m on Sabitzer if those were sold. Firstly because he isn't worth anywhere near that much (based on ability, contract and the fact his current club don't want him) and secondly, the market for midfielders will be far greater in the summer and we won't have to rely on those that were being offered to clubs on loan in the summer by clubs who no longer needed them.
Antony has no relevance whatsover and he was never meant to be the second coming of Ronaldo so not sure why you've made that up. We overspend on a key area we were desperate in on a player the manager knew first hand from a club that had no need or desire to sell. None of these points aply to Sabitzer.
Oh no grammatical errors, f-ck off you Tory c-nt. Go and laugh at some dying immigrants or suck on Lee Anderson's c-ck.

If he were available for £20m at the end of the season then definitely. These are the kind of players we should be looking for around a Europe to replace McT and Fred in the squad, whilst still targeting our number 1 choice for the starting spots.

Yeah I'd say £20m is reasonable. I wanna see what he can actually do in the #8 role which he was brought in to do before making any decision on him.
First choice ST, GK, RB and CM are still the priority for me and I don't see us getting all 4 in the summer.
