Even for Pep that was a weird formation. Seemed to work as Villa carried little threat with 6 at the back but I cannot remember a back 3 with no wing backs but Bernardo dropping back to LB on the rare occasions that Villa crossed half way. Hope Haaland isn't seriously injured as we will need him.

First half was vintage City, 2nd half was a snooze fest.
I assume we were conserving energy for Wednesday night.

The embarrassing dive was vintage Grealish. Ref bottlejob in front of innocent little Pep. Again.
I'm sure they had a cosy little chat before and after the game and a brown envelope was handed overš¤«

If that was the case why did Villa even bother playing 6 at the back?

Kev getting back to form, Ruben back in the defence, Rodri at the absolute top of his game.
Things can only get better.

Trying to work out the formation from the line up was like trying to solve a cryptic crossword clue. Bernardo seemed to be dropping back to cover the left, but he also seemed to be man for man on Leon Bailey. I noticed that the physios looking at Haaland so hope he’s not too bad. Assume Ruben subbed cause of the card. I don’t think Grealish dived, but I do think however much we paid Ramsey to clip him,it was worth it. Also absolutely loved the new version of the Mancini song.

The replay for the penalty looked a bit inconclusive on MOTD but the ref had no hesitation, neither did VAR and the Villa players didn't complain.
