January costs us again

I am sorry, but we as a club never learn. We just never take advantage of what lady luck throws us. Last January, we needed a goalscorer but got no one. Lost out in top 4 race. This year, City are in transition. We are in a great place to win the league but again..we needed a striker and a DM. We don't get the striker and Jorginho is not a DM. We don't get ANY of our 1st choice players.

Jorginho had a decent game for sure, but we needed someone to really run that CM physically when Partey is out. Nketiah...never been a fan and never will be. He scores harder chances than he misses and that is damning. Two headers today that he should at least put on target. We have not looked like scoring for 4 games now. When he was nearly out of contract, I wanted him gone. This is not a knee jerseys reactions, just my honest opinion - he is not good enough for Arsenal. He would not start for what..15 or 16 teams in the league. Why is he starting for us? Yes I get the injuries..but the contract we gave him says that we think he is good enough.

I am so disappointed.

Arteta...doing so well but his tactical inflexibility is annoying. Why not try Martinelli down the middle? Why not bring in Tierney to overlap and swing crosses in if Nketiah is in the box? Try something different.

The issue with Nketiah is that he does next to nothing outside the penalty box Jesus is in a different league when it comes to his link up play and bringing others into play, it's no surprise that Martinelli is struggling Jesus floats to the left which allows rotations between the two of them. With that in mind when Nketiah is presented with chances like he missed today he can't be missing free headers from six yards out. He's been given his chance and with every game you can see he's coming up short.

We are coming up to the business end of the season and again we are losing players to injury and players who have been over played are out of form same as last year. Was the desire really there to win the league from what was done in January we won't know until the end of the season but it does feel like they've done the bare minimum and not fully committed to it.

Martinelli struggles the most from no Jesus, also Zinchenko behind him offers him very little support as he wanders about too much hes never there to offer it out left

Dont see jan as an issue you strengthened with exp prem players who imo improved your squad. Hard to have targets available in jan and if you want them you have to pay silly money. What DM and Striker did you think was realistically achievable in jan? Also Nketiahs done very well so why the hate now?

Spoken like Jesus wasnt missing bare sitters all season too. I get Jesus offers a lot short but Nketia causes more trouble for defenders in other ways which in turn offers different kinds of space and opportunities for team mates.

Don't think there is hate it's just he's not up to the level that is required and we are seeing that now. If you want to be a penalty box forward who does very little else you can't be missing chances like that were missed today.

In terms of players individually both Trossard and Jorginho are decent players but as mentioned they were the easy options. They didn't push the boat out and at the moment it does feel like if there is any hard negotiation to be made they don't commit to it ie Caciedo and Mudryk. If those were the players Arteta wanted they need to deliver these players. That's what Edu is there for.

Those 2 players would have cost 180m to obtain this jan putting you at close to 500m net spend in the last 3 years alone. Thats insane and not sustainable unless you do a Chelsea or City of which Arsenal owners have never looked like doing or intended to so why would you expect that?

If you go back to last January we badly needed a goalscorer again they didn't deliver the necessary player and we fell short. If you look at last summer the deals for Zinchenko and Jesus seemed very easy to do their previous club didn't make it difficult from a negotiation point of view in effect those deals kind of fell into their lap especially with the Arteta link. There is a trend at the club when it gets tough they give up.

I'm not asking them to spend 600 million is six months like Chelsea did I am just asking that they seize this great opportunity and put everything they can into giving the team the best chance of winning the league and the business they did just doesn't say that.

I am not even upset at the Trossard deal but it was an easy one. Like when we got Ozil or Sanchez. They were available, their clubs wanted them gone and it was decent money. Jorginho is a Xhaka replacement...not a Partey replacement. It's like Lokonga...we try fit square pegs in round holes.

The issue is that for 2 Januarys in a row, when a prize has been in reach, we have one the bare minimum to attain it.

Yes..Jesus missus bare sitters. But what he does inside and outside of the penalty area more than makes up for it. I'd take him not scoring for the rest of the season if it meant Xhaka, Saka, Odegaard and Martinelli scored enough to win us every game. I'd take that ove Jesus scoring 30 in the league but we drop point or get beaten because in some games, we have zero clue going forward.

Like you said, we already have a striker who misses for fun..we can't afford a second who does the same and MUCH less in the build up. We should have gotten a plan B who is prolific or someone very similar to Jesus to replicate how we play.

Nketiah could do well further down the league but even then, I honestly struggle to see what team he'd start for.

Maybe we should go bk in for Vlahovic in the summer. Juve in deep trouble so could be willing to sell.

Play Jesus on the left like he did for City.
