I am far from convinced but I hope that Royal continues to improve and becomes a great player for us as it benefits THFC. I hope that for all our players but I just do not beieve that the majority of our players are good enough to get us into the top 4 let alone anything else.

He was never dreadful ….just poor going forward but defensively he has always been solid

I would disagree with that as well I think his defensive capabilities are as bad as his attacking capabilities.

His positioning is poor, his decision making is poor, he is rash with his tackles, he goes to ground too easily. I personally do not rate him at all even if he has had a few good games.

Perhaps you are confusing Our Emerson Royal with WHU's Emerson? Otherwise you're certainly in need of some new spectacles!
I agree E-Royal is not a finished player, still makes some mistakes. But "rash Tackles", "going to ground" "bad defensive capabilities"....
Perhaps you're thinking of Davies?
If I had to choose between Emerson royal and Kyle Walker right now,...based on age, I'd choose Emerson.
He is young enough to improve a lot, and god only knows, we need decent defenders because ENIC ain't buying any.
And BTW......football is a team game......and Emerson is playing better of late because he's got Romero to rely upon to clean up his mistakes.
Romero is by far our marquee defender, and without him this team is shiiit.

Porro will get some game time, but not at Emerson's expense.

Emerson is looking Spurs best right back since Walker.

Emerson is showing the need for competition for places. I don't think it's a coincidence he's picked up form with Porro being signed to take his place.

Similarly, Son looked a lot better today knowing Richarlison is there to take his place.

We need to make better use of our squad to keep everyone on their toes.

Totally agree but we need to make sure bench players like Danjuma and Porro get good minutes and our system is based on merit. Play bad...get dropped. Stellini seems more willing to use Subs. Yes some will say Conte approved but it's not a coincidence subs came on faster against West Ham than they did against Leicester.

Disagree with this. Arguably he's the best defensive wingback/full back we have at the club. Name a better defensive full back out of Sessegnon, Davies, Porro, Doherty, Spence, Reguilon

Firstly its impossible to comment on Porro or Spence and we have seen nothing of either one. As for the others how the hell does that make Royal a good player because he is better than the rest of the garbage that we have at THFC.
