4 games without Casemiro

He's already missed 4 games through suspension for us and now this will make 8. Very frustrating but I do think he deserved it after watching it back multiple times. I get the point he flicks the top of the ball but that leg is quite high on the shin/leg. Silly really.

The 4 games he's going to miss now aren't the worst though. Fulham (cup) Brentford & Everton are all at Home so you'd like to think we'll have enough. Newcastle away is the biggest loss for him of course. That was always going to be a tough game for us and now it's made even harder. If we lose that top 4 is also back to being in doubt. Hopefully Sabitzer will be back after the international break though to help us there.

Definitely feels like we are in danger of the wheels coming off a bit unless we tighten up. Mixture of fatigue, injuries and loss of form to some of our better players isn't helping. Garnacho the latest player to get injured and left the ground on crutches. Not ideal when some of our other wingers arent exactly ripping up trees.

I think we will get in the top 4 come the end but I fear we are going to make hard work of it.

the game vs Newcastle is a six pointer, too.

We might not make this top 4 if these things keep happening. ie suspensions to key players, getting inexplicably tanked, dropping points at home to the most hopeless teams in the leagues.

It shows how thin our squad really is only after 8 months of the ETH era. Plenty more work to do over the next 2 or 3 windows before United will become a bonifide challenger. But the early signs and improvements are good and I believe Erik is ahead of schedule. |Meanwhile McFred will have to do a job for us until Erikson and Cass return. Big transfer window (ins and outs) ahead for us this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a certain irony that neither of McFred started yesterday, presumably to avoid giving away silly free kicks and then the one midfielder we did pick got sent off for a silly foul
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt that is the reason they weren't picked. Either Fred or McT should have started alongside Casemiro yesterday in place of Weghorst and we could have possibly avoided the red. People say Casemiro could have cost United top four, but I would say Weghorst could.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ETH specifically mentioned not giving away silly free kicks before the game and given the past history of Fred and McT I'd be amazed if it wasn't a major factor

People were quite rightly confident on top 4 a few weeks ago. Doubt many of us expected to get 1 out of 6 points out of those two fixtures.

…..

A very basic understanding of how football works coupled with our very thin squad fighting on all four fronts should have told you this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Riiiiight.

So we got spanked 7-0 by Liverpool because we were tired?
We drew against Southampton because of fatigue and not because we went down to 10 men?

It’s called probability. Hence why the odds were heavily in our favour to beat Southampton.

But you know better, don’t you lol

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't think the players look tired, you must be watching a different team than most of us. We were crap before the red card yesterday too and even ETH has said our recent performances have been poor, by and large. And he isn't wrong. Fatigue is sure to be playing a big part right now

You don’t think we would have won with 11 men?

You think fatigue caused the 7-0 defeat?

Bruno & Rashford have certainly played an awful lot and probably need a break.

Spurs have United in their sights now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't be shocked to see Spurs at least run us close now that you have no other distractions. You are quite average on the road although so are we.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah we will drop plenty of points away from home - we’re brittle as faaaaack.

We could finish anywhere from 3-6 in my opinion - some of our fans getting giddy because we beat a team that haven’t won an away game all season is hilarious

I obviously understood our situation better than those who thought we had top four nailed, yes.

I thought it was harsh but no massive complaints with it really - you jump in like that, you run that risk.

Re. Top 4 - it definitely isn't done and dusted. There's actually a fair chance we could be 5th by the end of our next league game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah with games in hand. The schedule isn't kind to us at all sadly.

The Brighton game doesn't actually have a free date for it to be rearranged incredibly. If we progress in Europe and the FA cup then there's not a single date we can play it on. What will have to happen is we play Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday again in one week.

Absolute lunacy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Think the first week in May before the West Ham game and the last week of the season before Fulham have mid week empty spots even going all the way in the Europa
