He also had an insane start with us. I think we went unbeaten over his first 22 games. Stepped into Arsene Wenger's shoes and took us back into the Champions League at the first time of asking.

I was glad to see him get a chance to come back to the league and prove a point. I just hope you'll be more patient than us when he runs into one of the typical bad spells that have dotted his career.

Think villa are 3rd in form behind City and Arsenal since he took over

it helped getting rid of Ings and allowing Watkins to be the main striker, worked wonders for the boy, just hope he stays fit

A very good manager having an underrated season. Totally shown up Gerrard. Eben got more out of Watkins it seems.

Very underrated, still not convinced on Mings/Konsa, so will still have some poor results/games but a massive improvement in just a few months

I wouldn't put it beyond Emery to find a way to get a tune out of those two.

He didn't exactly have a lot to work with at Arsenal.

He took a defence that featured Mustafi, Sokratis and Koscielny all the way to a Europa League final as well as a Champions League qualifying spot.

Diego Carlos coming back is better than both, imo, but doubt he will walk straight back in

You're right. Must have got my dates mixed up.

I am happy for unai though, he seems like a good man. He didn't help himself at arsenal, but then he did inherit an absolute shiiiit show. Hope he's learned his lessons and can establish himself more long term in the premier League.

He didn’t get us back in the CL, that’s why he was sacked, and he should have been sacked sooner really. That being said I like the guy and it’s great seeing him do well at Villa, hopefully it doesn’t end for him there the way it did for us
