Forest v Man U - Match Thread

If Monday's weren't bad enough as it is. I have Man United at 1:30am to set the tone for the week!

Last Game Overview: A solid first-half, Shelvey giving them a goal. We only had ten men.

The Good: Danilo looked good again, still confused as to why he comes off.

The Bad: More injuries. The Niakhate one is worrying, but at least McKenna is back.

The Ugly: Shelvey. Get him off the pitch! He couldn’t get sent off so he gives them a goal.

Special Mention: Williams…so he’s a RWB and not a RB. Had a decent game to be fair.

Overall Record:

Currently we stand at W33 D24 L51

Injuries / Signings:

Boly, Henderson and Wood are all out for this one.

Aurier, Kouyate, Lodi, Niakhate, Scarpa and Yates – unlikely.

Dennis, Lingard and McKenna were unused substitutes in our previous game.

Casemiro returns from suspension for them. Garnacho, Rashford and Shaw likely missing out.

Sabitzer looked great for them against Everton.

Form:

Forest Home Form – W2 D3 L2 GF8 GA6

Man U Away Form – W2 D1 L3 GF6 GA13

Forest are 0.6 PPG over the last ten games. Man U are 1.7 PPG.

Since returning from the World Cup, Man United have only lost three EPL games.

The losses were against Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle. Three draws against Leeds, Palace and Southampton gives me a modicum of hope.

Team:

Navas
Williams Worrall Felipe McKenna Toffolo
Mangala Danilo MGW
Awoniyi Johnson

With multiple injuries the team almost picks itself.

Our first choice G, CB, CB, LB, RB and CM are injured. Those being Henderson, Boly, Niakhate, Lodi, Aurier and Yates.

Prediction:

Let’s hope Sevilla do a number on Man United. A tight Sevilla win and a few good boots here and there could give us a slim chance of a draw.

1-1

COYRs!!!

We are fighting for our survival and there just does not seem to be the fight from the team. We are totally overrun in midfield.

I think it has to come down to tactics. We always look like we have 10 men in every game. We are outnumbered going forward, at the back and in midfield. I don’t get where we do have players?

It was always a tough ask to stay up, maybe it’s just that we are not good enough and very low on confidence.

I'd say on paper we have the players but once again no shot on target and we just look lost. Our passing accuracy is awful and gives the forwards no chance. I sometimes wonder if Cooper is watching the same game. At least no Shelve or Aywe today

You just have to make it harder than that to be beaten. As always, we made the opposition look good. If we could have put them under pressure they might have cracked.

Just got back, and its the flattest I’ve felt all season, summed up by the rendition of Mull of Kintyre at the beginning of the second half, sounded like we were just going through the motions, a bit like the team, everything felt flat.
We made our customary mistake to gift the opening goal, had no joy at all from the officials, and with Awoniyi on the field looked like we only had 10 men, sorry but he is truly awful.
We created little particularly in the second half, and were once again undone by a very simple ball, for their second.
I feel for Cooper but am coming to the conclusion that he may be out of his depth, this early in his career. Even listening to his post match interview, i sometimes wonder if he’s watched the same game.
Don’t see any chance of us being able to perform the miracle required to stay up, the players just aren’t up for the fight, but more worryingly i think we will be looking for yet another coach to start all over again. Marinakis has re-arranged everything on the Titanic, bar the Caption, that may be his last move.
Tbh I’ve not enjoyed the season as much as i hoped, but at least we’ve had the chance to sample it.
I have no problem with the Championship, and am actually quite looking forward to yet another fresh challenge.
I hope Cooper stays, he is our best chance of coming straight back up, but aren’t convinced he will get the chance.
Today went as badly as i feared it might, and don’t have any great expectations for next week at Liverpool.
As long as there is hope we have a chance, but the hope is starting to fade.

I thought we played really well and showed a lot of fight.

They are third for a reason. Bigger games coming up than this one.

Echo that.

The back four actually played well; Navas and Felipe were outstanding.

Freuler and Danilo were severely outnumbered and outplayed in central midfield but against Fernandes, Casemire, and Erikson (all top class) that was always going to be the case no matter who we put in there. Their movement and passing was different class.

Our attack got no service. They huffed and puffed to no avail.

Had we been awarded and scored a penalty things might have been different.

But we are still in touch with safety. A win againts Saints and two points fron the rest of the games might be enough. Everton's run in is almost as tough as ours.

Leeds have a very tough run in as well.

Their easiest fixture is Leicester at home. After that it’s Bournemouth and West Ham away!

Add to that Fulham and Man city away! Newcastle and Spurs at home!

After we’ve played Liverpool (A) and Brighton (H) you’d argue our fixtures are easier!

Still in touching distance. Would be great to see the Toffees go down. They’ve been taking the P for years.

Still believe that 36/37 points is safe

So there is still a pathway to survival

Southampton (bottom team)
Chelsea (vulnerable to be beat by anyone)
Palace ( on the beach on last day)

Anything from Liverpool, Arsenal, Brighton and Brentford is a bonus

Fingers crossed…..

Having just watched Liverpool demolish Leeds 6-1, can’t say my expectations for this Saturday are very high, in fact it feels like damage limitation already.
Having said that, we had may as well get beat by 5 having a go, rather than lose by 1 by just parking the bus, as our goal difference is basically irrelevant, its the equivalent of needing an extra point.
The other thought is Liverpool may have used their goal quota and may end up losing 1-0, we can always hope.

Game over. Any blame Cooper. The players just can’t concentrate for long enough. Just not good enough really for this level.
