Championship...

First of all, well done to Vincent Kompany and Burnley who have already secured their place back in the Premier League. They just need a win to secure the title, and should break the 100 point mark. Their squad is much changed from the one that was relegated, although it was a loanee, Nathan Tella, who had the biggest goal impact so remains to be seen if he stays.

Sheffield United are all but up after last nights win. An FA Cup semi final this weekend puts the promotion celebrations on hold, but they should be on the way back. Unlike Burnley, they have a lot of players left from their relegated side, the likes of Egan, Berge and McBurnie.

The play-off race, however, is still very much alive. Luton Town, in third, and Middlesbrough, fourth, are all but secure. Both are pretty amazing stories. It wasn't long ago I was watching Luton at Dartford in the Conference, although I am one of those who remember them in the top flight (and painful memories of the Stein brothers, Ricky Hill et al in the League Cup final 88). It would be a bit of a fairytale story if they come up.
Boro have been in the top flight far more recently, but at the start of the season they looked like being in a relegation fight. In a similar story to Forest last season, Michael Carrick has turned their fortunes round and they are flying. Chuba Akpom, a bit of a journeyman striker whose goal record was hardly notable, is now the 27 goal leading scorer. Their 5-1 hammering of Norwich shows their class. Like most, they do have a fair few loanees - the outstanding pair Cameron Archer and Aaron Ramsey from Villa for example - so they may have a rebuild in the summer.

Beyond those two, 6 points separate 5th placed Millwall and 12th placed Watford. West Brom, Blackburn, Sunderland, Coventry, Preston, Norwich and Watford all will still hope to gatecrash the play-offs.

With most teams having just 4 games left of the regular season, it is very much at the business end.
