The season couldn’t come to a less exciting climax.
Colchester might be grateful to us for presenting the opportunity to end a very poor run back in November when they beat us by a rather flattering 3-0. I was at that game and we hadn’t quite solidified into the unadventurous style that characterised our decline under the growing influence of Schofield’s incompetence.
They certainly revived and their form since then has been a good deal better than Dreary Schofield Rovers.
I can’t imagine that they are not good enough to beat Rovers, having fairly recently scored 4 against both Sutton and Crewe and conceded only 1 against Salford. So 2-0.
Walsall seem to be almost as mediocre as Rovers, but not quite. I was about to say I would not go to watch either game, but I suppose I’ll pay my £10 for the Walsall one.
I have not been so lacking in hope at the end of a season before because next season could well be our last in the EFL in my lifetime, thanks to Danny Schofield, his mentor Coppinger and the useless Blunt. I suppose I’ll stay with them for a while but I shall be hoping for Schofield’s dismissal asap.
Walsall 3 Rovers 0.

I well remember Brian Makepeace (ironic name, somewhat!), with Len Graham on the other side. Centre of the field was Charlie Williams (was Graham still here when Charlie was playing?). Who were the wing halves then? I remember Jackie Teasdale, but not another.
I wish the Rovers good luck today as I visit a wine estate in the Hermitage region.

Mickey: I hope you had a chance to see the sights and enjoy the gastronomic delights of Lyon.
Back in South Yorkshire 73 years ago, I think Syd Bycroft might still have been centre half when BM started in 1950. Graham was the same sort of age as Bycroft. Teasdale came later and I think was injured on a representative tour to South Africa. which ended his career whilst still young. It was Paterson who succeeded Bycroft I think, and was transferred to Newcastle who were in Div 1.
We were a different class then. In the Schofield era I watch Rovers with little or no emotion which is a completely new for me. They are HIS team, not mine. You distinguish the real triers including Faulkner, Goodman and Maxwell and compare them with the "drifters" who make a limited effort, but will not put themselves out and the rest who appear to have limited talent, but don't really seem to know what to do with the ball.
Apart from the the "triers", the rest don't really look particularly fit and it is impossible to see what attacking strategy there is.
I don't think Schofield is capable of recognising ability and allowing him to spend TB's money is sheer folly.

I'm going from Hope to Stepaside (in Pembrokeshire) for my hols. DS definitely should step aside.

What a relief - I really cannot feel sorry for a man who brought so much dreadful football to our club and who never really acknowledged responsibility.

I'd like to see Grant McCann back. He's got a proven track record at this level and above. He knows the club well. If the board are willing to bury the hatchet over his previous departure it's the right decision. Given the directors say they will make an appointment within 10 days indicates they already have someone pencilled in.
