Seem a little bit different in the detail.
Do the media “protect” the British Public?

Protect is the wrong word
They are told what to publish in order to present the police in a better light than the uniformed thugs they really are
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have several friends in the police force, and im guessing you dont, but you are happy to generalise massively about a work force of abut 140k as being "uniformed thugs"
Here you are talking about censorship and talking total butter bollox at the same time, making ridiculous, uninformed sweeping statements. Censor yourself !
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have family and friends in the force. I was a community safety manager for over 20 years, chair of community safety teams. Working with senior police officers.
And they are thugs in uniform.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What, every one?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Majority I would say. I have many examples. Here's one
One national campaign that was not allowed to take place was around domestic violence. The reason it got stopped was because likes of Victim Support get large pockets of their funding from the police budgets. They were the ones trying to get a campaign set up.
Reason it was stopped was that police officers partners were a huge statistic for violence by their serving partners. This is across the board too so not just hetro but LGBTQ too.

Classic Americanism. Taking issues from the US and making out like they also exist elsewhere.
The smallest minority of our police are scuuuum, no doubt, but the vast vast majority or excellent stand up individuals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No Americanism here. I worked from mid 90's onwards. And there have always been issues

Take any service, organisation or industry where there are so many persons attached and you will find issues with all of them. The key is that it is alway a minority, but lunatics like yourself use a few examples and make the assumption that every member is responsible.
It’s a pretty dumb viewpoint.

The MET chief admits there have been problems with recruitment in the last few years under Cress Diq. They are having to deal with it now. But he has warned of the amount of cases of sexual misconduct, abuse and brutality that will have to go to court, it will take a long time to process. The only thing the Police wont admit is thst they are inst. racist. Which if you know anybody of colour is a complete joke. Even black policemen are racist and cruel to people of colour. Its a national disgrace.

=====
I didn't interpret this comment as to mean that all the police in the country are uniformed thugs. Obviously some are and some aren't.
I think this is a case of pedantry, and something being taken too literally in order to create an angle for criticism and attack.

The BBC are disgusting for the way they’ve never apologised to Eriksen, after trying to exploit his cardiac arrest on the pitch.
