our stuards have got to be some of the worst ive ever seen!
They treat our fans like dirt, sit down or get out seems to be the policy. To say i pay over 500 quid a year id say i should have the choice of sitting in a seat with no leg room or standing and cheering my team on.
As if it wasn't bad enough what we have to put up with, now the away fans are in the west stand ( worst, coldest, most dull, most expensive stand ), the stuards are trying to treat them like home fans. Bad idea. Away fans tend to be mostly the most passionate fans a club has. As an avid away fan myself, and if i got told to sit down at an away game id be less than happy, if leeds fans got the same treatment as pompey fans at an away day, i don't think it would end well.
You can't treat away fans like home fans, i go away to sing, have a couple with the lads, and havd a good time, it ruins the game for all the fans if the stuards take the iron fist approach. It kills atmosphere and will keep fans from coming back, losing the club money.
When im older and i take my kids to the football, will fans have to sit in silence, will stuards be armed with tazers for anyone who dares try to support the team? I hope not!
Stop killing our game with stupid rules and regulations, football without passion is as good as a car without an engine, without it, its pointless!

'...I suppose what i'm trying to say is everyone has to use a bit of common sense fans and stewards...'
I see you mention fans in that Highlandwhite, does that include fans that don't think the rules apply to them and are happy to break them?
You cannot have it both ways, that's why there are rules!

Eric, rules are there to be observed , everyone is aware or is made aware of them, but they don't have to be draconian, a little bit of discretion by the stewards would gain them a bit of respect from the fans and make their job easier in the process.

That's all well and good, but it does not answer my question.

OK Eric, Fans who break the rules should be firmly put in their place, unfortunately this is often done with a big stick (not literally) when a firm hand is all that's needed (don't even think about it )

I hope that if they do bring back standing area's the prices stay the same as they are now.

The thing is, the stewarding isn't consistent.
When we played Liverpool in the cup at ER, all the Liverpool fans in the South stood all game with no bother from stewards at all.
And when we played Millwall in that play off semi I was near the back of the South Stand Upper. Every one of us was standing. In fact, I was standing in the isle for a lot of the game, talking to two of the stewards who were standing there with me.
It seems, for the bigger games, they don't intervene because doing so will just cause mayhem.
Pompey fans were complaining about being filmed in the West Stand. Why on earth would you film fans while they are watching a game? That's going to get people's backs up straight away.

We live in a society where you're on camera most of the day if truth were known.
Just ignore it. If you walked from The Headrow to City Square passing through Lands Lane and Commercial Street, how many times do you reckon you'd be on camera?
It's a method used to prevent and detect crime etc.
The only people that should worry about it are those with malicious or criminal intent?
