I mistakenly posted this on the wider thread instead of the Leeds one, so here goes again...
The closer Leeds get to what is seeming like an inevitability, the more I look for the positives in being relegated - and there are several.
For financial reasons there will be a clear out - and considering that so many of our players have a blatant lack of commitment and true connection with our great club and its fans, a change will be welcome. I can’t believe Radz will be stupid enough to employ another Orta as DOF so recruitment can only improve.
Importantly, we can start to enjoy football once again instead of dreading every potential drubbing. The squad we have is not up to Prem standard - at least in the Championship we can restore our sense of status and pride in the team. Nothing wrong with being a bigger fish in a smaller pond - some of the battles we enjoyed in that promotion season were at least as exciting as any Prem matches we’ve subsequently had. If we equip ourselves with the right personnel - there’ll be equally memorable matches to come.
And the negatives? Well, if we do drop, one of my biggest disappointments will be the way in which the club let itself and its fans down. From the moment we fell out of the top tier, almost 20 years ago, so many unbiased non-Leeds fans admitted we belonged in the top-tier and, in that spirit, we were welcomed back as a breath of fresh air - especially after that first amazing season with Marcelo. I fear the clamour for our return won’t be as great next time - yo-yo teams are never taken quite as seriously.
For now, though, let’s hope we can raise our game and that others falter. Sadly it feels, for the first time, that our destiny is in the hands of others.

Just maybe compared with previous relegations when our poor financial state influenced our progress, the last 3 seasons in the Premier League has enabled the club to secure a more solid foundation that can significantly improve our chances of a speedy return.
Also apart from one season where Leslie Silver decided to invest in quality and it was duly rewarded I think we have an ownership strategy that is far more incentivised to get itself out of the Championship ASAP
The truth is none of us can accurately predict the consequence of relegation and although very negative and low expectations are fueled understandably by experiences of some nightmare past owners, I hold more optimism that previous long turgid depressing spells spent out of the top tier of English football will not be repeated.
Having said all that it's Leeds United FFS.. we're well versed in the unpredictabilities of what supporting this club brings so for the time being I think I prefer to cross that bridge when or if it happens.

Kebab did an OP a while back about relegation.
It made me less stressed about dropping back then.
Right now though, I can't find anything to feel positive
about if we are relegated. Thanks Orta you tw 4 t.
And Radz. And Kinnear.

You can't be certain that Radrizzani isn't stupid enough to appoint another DoF like Orta - who was trusted with millions for six years, remember.
Radrizzani knows sweet FA about running a football club - he's proved that much. He thinks it's like any other business.
They both got lucky big time with Bielsa...and Raphinha...but that's about it.
The ONLY positive about going down would be Radrizzani's exit, but I've read that if we are relegated, he'll stick around to try to recoup his lost millions.
So, I fervently hope we survive still - because that's the only way we'll get shot of this fool, Radrizzani, whose utter incompetence has led us to where we are now.
RADRIZZANI OUT!

We will be "a big fish in a small pond" by name only.
With our "star" players gone, we will be back to the permanent mid-table level that Bielsa improved. I don't see anyone coming in to replicate that feat.
We go down, I'll be lucky to see us go up again in what remains of my lifetime.

LeedsFan, I agree with you. I'm lucky enough to have seen all our Division 1 titles, plus FA, League and Fairs Cup wins. If we go down, I fear that our time out of the Premiership will be at least the 8 years it took us to get from the 1982 relegation.

There are no positives to relegation and I'm sick & tired of reading otherwise.

What could be positive with being relegated?
