Edu

Does anyone else trust this guy to get the big deals over the line this summer? Absolute joker when it comes to negotiating any sort of big deals. He's only managed to get players who are easy and available to get.

We will see what they do but for the most part given the conditions they had to operate under they've done ok bar the odd mistake with acquisition

The odd mistake? I'm afraid but they are quite a few of them. I'd say it has been 50/50 so far when it comes to signings.

As I said yesterday, this will be the first summer where Edu will operate from a position of power. No excuses about no-CL to tempt players. And, despite what some will say, given the current age profile of the players at the club, there is no reason why we can't challenge for title(s) again next season.

To get to this position we've had to take quite a few 'punts' on players. Some could be argued were weird, and unlikely to succeed (Willian, Mari, Cedric) whilst others that didn't come off (yet, at least) were worthy of going for (Sambi, Vieira, Turner).

They've had to make some very difficult decisions some probably where they probably haven't helped themselves. Take the Aubameyang decision just imagine how difficult that probably that would of been for Edu to go to the Kroenke's and say look we need to pay this guy to leave with their background just getting them to listen without laughing in his face probably was some achievement. I don't think he's perfect and he's got to capture all the main targets this summer but overall he's done a decent job up until this point.

Vieira what a hopeless buy he's been.

Edu and Arteta have no hiding place next season. It's make or break for both of them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really? You’ve massively exceeded expectations this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Done very well in the league bar the end of season implosion.

However, the performances in the cup competitions have been atrocious
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't care much about the FA Cup (which we've already won 14 times) & the League Cup, in fact no bigger club really does - that's why they put out the reserves in the early rounds, they're not important.

Do they put out weakened teams in the early rounds of the Champions League or in any league games ?
Nope, because they MATTER.

Arteta has MASSIVELY exceeded expectations, even if I disagree with some of his decisions his job is not under threat AT ALL...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
FA cup is an important competition as is Europa where we have been knocked out by some bang average teams.

The only game Odegaard missed Vieira came in, scored, assisted and played well in a 3-0 win away to Brentford.
We also qualified from ease in the Europa where he played.
As his role is understudy to Odegaard, it hasn't been hopeless. He just hasn't had enough consistent game time to get into form. For a young player new to the league that is tough.

More from him to come 👀

For some years now big teams have been playing squad players in cup games. Its generally agreed that while our first 11 is very good the squad needs improving which is why weve struggled in cup games

The biggest issue with cup flops was Arteta was using a lot of the first XI. And it cost us big time with injuries to the likes of Partey, Tomiyasu and especially Saliba.

I don’t agree, football is about glory & creating special lifelong moments that stay with you, not winning the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup for the 15th time. 🙄

For Arsenal glory is about winning the Premier League or the Champions League - the rest is just fluff & a distraction from these goals.
