Reports say Arteta interested. Go for him if he's not staying at City. I'm sure City will release him if he insists.

Hope he goes to Barca.

He'd be great in that Xhaka role, despite his age.
Unless we are offering an awful lot more money/longer contract, I can't see why he'd come to us rather than stay at City though..

Gundogan has only been offered a season extension at City and is looking for a longer final contract.

Gundogan would a brilliant signing but think he will stay at City or go Barca.

good

Why wouldn't you want Gundogan?

Xhaka, 31 years old going. Good.
We replace him with another 32 year old guy who wants surely a lot of money including sign on money and a long contract. We knew with Auba how it pans out for us.
He is fighting for a new contract. His last major contract. That he find form at the end of the season is therefore no coincidence. What makes you all think he could repeat this form over a whole long season at Arsenal? On the other hand we have Jorginho.
I would prefer another younger solution.

Well said. Lack of transfer fee aside, there is way to little upside to making this kind of signing for a player who, while obviously being very good, seems to play within himself for large potions of the season. Silly to add him to midfield that already contains a 31 year old Jorginho, and a 30 year old Partey.

Isn't modric 37/ 38 or something like that?
Gundogan is actually getting better with age. He has been phenomenal for City. Still think there are 2 good seasons left with him

We have plenty of young players as it is. Having an extra experienced player in the team like Gundogan that is a winner would be a big boost for us in my opinion. If we have him for 2-3 years and we win a premier league title then it would be worth it and justified.

I don't think we will be signing Gundogan as an everyday player if he does choose us.

Gundogan's priorities appear to be a bit unique at the moment.
He had already earned his UEFA B licence under Guardiola's wing by the time his contract was running out 12 months ago. The subsequent 12-month contract extension came as no surprise after he declared his intention to proceed with his UEFA A and UEFA pro badges.
He might have also mentioned an interest in working with the German FA along the way.
He's also had an eventful year in his personal life. Got married about a year ago, with a kid arriving barely 2 months ago.
So I'm guessing his agents are on the lookout for something more concrete. Who knows, maybe even a player-coach role if he's lucky. Something like what Tom Huddleston has with the youth setup at Man United.
