20 yrs in the first year of his tenure ?
20 yrs ago we were building to become a top four side, breaking the dominance of UTD & AFC.
Today, we are now having to do the same but we do compete with 8 teams
City, Afc, N/Castle, Utd, Lvp, Thsp, BHA, Villa.
The DNA that came with the Abramovich era has been eradicated, Frank has said it has been switched off.
So yes imo, Todd & his consortium have in the space of 12 months taken the club back 20 years.
By all accounts Tod and the investment bankers are going to take a back seat & let the experienced footballing brains untangle the mess, with the aim of putting the club on a sound footing and in a upward trajectory.
Ok, imo that is the reality. Next, ?
The issues.
The ownerships complete ignorance of the EPL & European football.
The finances loss of revenue. Without C/L football ect.ect.
FFP, balancing the books, with the current loss of 120m+ over 3 seasons.
Unloading 400m + worth of footballers and their contracts.
The lag that this will inflict on the managers ability to create the squad he wants.
The unattractiveness of not being in the C/L
Long term amortisation, (600m) being stuck with players who are stale, who do not fit ect.ect. taking up space in the squad.
The cost of building a squad which can compete as first a top four side, then after as real title challengers. This could easily require 500m in todays game.
Wow, the club will be bound by FFP , all the money in the world will not at this stage help. The owners have to deal with FFP first, this will effect the rate the new manager can progress.
The positives:
The new manager Poch , very good!
The Americans are taking a step back, they've done enough!
The squad does have numerous quality individual players.
I would suggest that if the ownership & new manager get everything right it will take 1 possibly two seasons to rebuild a top four squad, after that ? realistic challengers 3 to 5 seasons.
It will be a long road back to title challengers.
But, as Todd boasted when he came in he is not messing about, fck me he was not wrong!
COY Blues , KTBFFH!
Has Todd Boehly taken Cfc back

JDFI makes some good points, and to a man our defence and keeper are actually pretty good. Kepa's best season in the league for sure.
However we have been got at so easily by teams and should have probably conceded a lot more this year if kepa, and earlier in the season thiago silva, didn't have to drop top performances week in week out.
Getting a striker would help us no end but I also think we've been lucky defensively not to have been blown away by teams this year
-------------------------------------------------------
I dunno about that, I think defensively we've just been pretty good. There's stars & passengers in the line but they've done the job.
Put Kane in the team + keep Tuchel & we'd be 5th/6th this year. Feel fairly confident saying that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, but we never had Kane and tuchel went so it's a mute point.

I think with a good manager which you should have now and 2 EPL level Strikers that Chelsea team would be challenging again that top 4.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where's the money coming from to get these strikers? As ifarka has said, they have left themselves little band width to spend big again and 2 EPL quality strikers is another £100m plus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Im sure the same questions were asked whilst they signed all the players in the summer.
If you cant figure out how a squad with far too many players can raise some funds to sign others then there isnt much point discussing it with you.

Also I think you can get two EPL level strikers in your squad without paying 100m in the summer

Yeah that was mute. It had a point in my head, can't remember what it was though
Basically don't think the defence has ridden luck. Think it's just been good.
