Southampton

Made two very sensible moves already.
Yes, they have the benefit of knowing they're
already relegated. But, they capitalized on it.

DoF: Jason Wilcox / Man City

Ex City Academy Director. Which means
he can tap into City loan market. Like
Burnley did last season. This is a move
I thought the 49ers might go for. Not
necessarily him. But, someone from within
Man City to be the new DoF. Someone
who has been in their system a while.
And done well. It's a very 'NFL' move. Go
raid talent from within the most successful
club, especially within the GM structure.

Manager/Coach:

Russell Martin / Swansea
Good, young manager who plays attractive
football. Knows the Championship. Knows
the players who can succeed in this division.
Probably ready to move up to the Prem
level also, ability-wise.

Now Southampton have Prem money/
parachute payments/player sales money
to give to a new DoF and manager who will
be on the same page. This also puts them
in the driver's seat for Piroe and Manning if
they choose to go that route. Two players
linked with a host of clubs.

They're ahead of the game in the 'bounce
right back up' stakes. With the Championship
starting much earlier than the Prem, they can
go into the transfer window with a cohesive
plan and stable ownership (ex Brentford DoF).

The other two relegated teams are at least
two weeks behind them. If it is us, with our
ownership issues, we might not be ready to
move on players until after the first 1-3 weeks
of the window. Prime targets could be gone.

Southampton are the front runners now of
the three teams that are relegated.

I'd fully expect Leicester to move quickly if they go down Sunday, would be surprised if they opted for Smith, and quite likely we would both have the same shortlist of manager

Personally, I really like Rob Edwards (Luton) and Kieran McKenna (Ipswich), if Luton dont win Saturday I'd be looking that direction, as highly doubt McKenna will be leaving his role this summer

If there isn't an announcement by the end of next week on the ownership situation then it's going to be a complete farce

I'd hope we will be buying experienced proven Championship players rather than relying on loans. Thats what we need in my opinion. We already have a load of youngsters. We need experience.

Did any really dominate, really 🤷🏻‍♂️

And for everyone of them, 10 other loanees failed in the champ.

Its a huge risk

Exactly, remember the Chelsea trio:

Baker
Blackman
Brown

What an utter waste of time, money and stealing places from existing players that was.

Someone who actually understands the situation
we are in. It's so Leeds to be this all over the map.

Saying that, it would be so Leeds if we beat Spurs
and both Leicester and Everton lose and we stay up.

More likey, both lose, and we let a last minute equaliser in, probably a howler

Rad, the final day is always full of twists and turns - it'll be exciting whatever. I remember being in a crowded pub for last year's final match – going in there feeling depressed and pessimistic and coming out into a whole different world. But does lightning strike twice?

The seasons not even finished yet so why are people expecting wholesale changes overnight?

I'm not. That's the point. Leeds as a club since
Bielsa have sat on their hands and wasted every
opportunity given. We haven't capitalized or
evolved since MB left. And yet, Leeds fans, or
some of them think we'll just waltz right back up
to the Prem.

When history of the last three years clearly says
nope, we won't. We like risking it. We like waiting.
We like buying kids for the future, when we're
not really sure where that future lies. Sod the
now, we're Leeds United.

On the other hand, Southampton have their ducks
in a row already. Yes, they're relegated. Knowing
their fate makes it easier. But, they didn't sit on their hands, expecting to smash it because they were in
the Prem a decade. They put a new plan in place
and immediately acted on it.

Did they get it right? Who knows. They did got it done.

We can wait for sure. We can roll the dice again.
And again. And again. And again.

Why break the habit?

If we go down as I suspect we will I don't want a.load of young kids. I want experienced or key spine players.

I'm thinking Lascelles at Newcastle who if his fitness is right is a proven leader at this level

Maybe even Targett/Jamal Lewis on loan from Newcastle too

I'd really go all out for Milner, but suspect we have no chance there

I'd maybe go for one kid on loan. Why not go for Carvalho at Liverpool whose a 10 and Klopp has suggested he is sending out on loan.

Target man wise we need to hope we can keep some of our attacking options like Somee
rville, Sinesterra, Gnonto, Gray and get an experienced Championship quality striker who can bring them into play
Not sure what's going on with Antonio at the moment. Had injuries but a handful.
