Big weekend...

This weekend there will be joy, the wonderful sight of grown men crying because their team has been relegated, titles won, dreams crushed. It is what football is al about.

First up, Borussia Dortmund can win the Bundesliga title for the first time in over a decade. All they have to do is win at home against 9th place Mainz. Bayern Munich, away to FC Koln, need a win and a prayer. Both games kick off at 14:30 and are live on Sky (Dortmund on Mix, Munich on Arena).
There is also a relegation battle, with Schalke currently in 17th on 31 points and chasing Bochum, Stuttgart (both 32pts). Team who finish 16th get a stay of execution in the form of a relegation play off against B2 3rd place team, and Augsburg and Hoffenheim are not quite safe from that. Schalke are at Leipzig, Bochum host Leverkusen, Stuttgart play Hoffenheim and Augsburg are at Monchengladbach.

Also at 14:30 is the climax of the WSL. If Chelsea beat bottom of the table Reading they are champions. Man Utd go to Liverpool needing a miracle, but could take the title if Chelsea lose. Chelsea are on Sky and United are on BBC One.

The Championship play-off final is one of the highlights of the season, and at 16:45 Luton Town and Coventry City do battle at Wembley. Both teams have had a lot of tough times in the years since they were last in the top flight (Luton 92, Coventry 01 if memory serves) and it wasn't long ago that they were both getting promoted from the fourth tier (2018). It is live on Sky Sports.

Tonight PSG can seal the Ligue 1 title, live on BT Sport at 20:00. They face Strasbourg away, with the home tea, all but safe from relegation. Lens have a very minimal chance of the title, and host AJ Ajaccio, whose relegation is confirmed. Nantes (33pts) and Auxerre (34pts) are fighting to avoid the last relegation place, so if Auxerre beat Toulouse and Nantes lose to Lille relegation is done with a game left,

On BTSport at 18:00 Benfica can seal the Primeira title by beating bottom of the table Santa Clara.

For the patriotic English, England U17s UEFA quarter final against France is on the BBC RB at 19:00.

As well as the Premier League relegation battle, and Aston Villa and Spurs fighting for the Conference place, Sunday brings us Carlisle United vs Stockport County in the League 2 play off. That is a 13:30 kick off live on Sky.

Monday is a big day for two of Yorkshires giants as Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday meet at Wembley for the League One play-off final. Either Kitty or Tyke will be disappointed, which is 50% joyful news.

Looks like the weather will be okay, the beers will be cool and no doubt some will have the BBQ lit. It should be a good Bank Holiday weekend with some great football mixed in. Enjoy.

It was an interesting day of football, nice few beers to watch some of it in the sunshine as well. Lovely.

Out of interest DJ, what’s the deal with you and the live football threads? I can sense your burning desire to post updates on the forum, so it seems rather sad you have to do it across threads you’ve created where no one is really listening.

How comes you don’t use the live thread?

Find the puns and banter rather boring and inhibits conversation and debate. Someone posts something interesting, but it gets lost in 20 odd puns before anyone can reply. That is the way people wanted the thread to go so I moved on.

Fair enough.

I can’t help but feel a little sad for you, as you post your updates on a thread that no one is looking at.

I'd rather have one good reply than 1000000 puns tbf.

Each to their own.

Tbf, the whole site quality has been reduced greatly by inclusive threads (such as the Arsenal Thread, Good News, Tranny thread etc).
A lot of the articles that do get posted - especially in terms of Arsenal - are by awful posters. Plus there is an awful lot of non-football content and I'm not really here for that .

I think everyone should take responsibility for the quality of the site, with their own contributions.
