Summer break

Upon reflection, I accept that my choice of wording in my 'Roll Call of Shame' article was wrong and misguided. Whilst I think my anger was justified, I clearly let my raw emotions get the better of me. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete an article once it has been published but Mods, please feel free to take it down - especially as another poster has now decided to hijack it to air their own personal grievances against several other posters.

The reason why I have been so angry is because this fall from grace was so totally avoidable. I have been a Leicester supporter since the 1999-2000 season and experienced four relegations in that time. This one is by far the worst. Why? Because it was completely unnecessary. We were riding high in the league, had solidified ourselves as a regular top 6-8 side, capable of competing for European football, and we have chucked it away. We have been relegated with one of the highest paid managers in the league, one of the highest valued squads with one of the highest wage bills, and with a brand new £100m training ground that has been turned into a theme park, and plans for a stadium development to take us to 40,000 capacity. We have gone from one of the best-run clubs in the country to one of the worst. You cannot compare this to the days when we were a yo-yo club under Micky Adams or a shambles under Holloway and Mandaric - the club had been in a completely different stratosphere.

Had Top and the Board made one single positive, proactive decision over the past couple of years rather than sitting on their hands and letting this car crash unfold, we would not be in this position. And no, Vichai would never have let this playout the way it has - he would have sacked Rodgers when he started slagging off the club at the start of the season, and probably long before that.

It hurts me that some of the fanbase have been so willing and so able to accept our demise as just 'one of those things' - and inevitable fall because 'we're only Leicester City'. Rather than question why we have gone from top 5 to bottom 3 in the space of two seasons, some just seem to want to shrug their shoulders, accept it as some kind of 'fate', preach about how wonderful Top and King Power are because they haven't asset stripped us (other clubs, our rivals until recently, will do that over the coming weeks) and just accept their free donut and beer, and not question why we are in this mess. I find that very hard to understand. One person who certainly would not accept this is Vichai - he had the ambition and drive to say that we could be a top 5 club after promotion. He was laughed at, told he was too ambitious - and we then went on finish in the top 5 three times in 7 years. There is a Vichai shaped hole in our club, and it has been consumed by complacency, negligence and acceptance.

Having been accused of being a bully, a troll, and not being a proper fan, I am going to take the opportunity to have a little break from this forum. I have been a member of this forum since the old BBC days and I regularly decide to take breaks when I feel my mental health starting to wain. I hope to be back in time for the start of the season - I might pop on if/when something big happens (knowing our board, we probably won't have a new manager until the middle of July) but I won't be taking part in the daily bump and grind of forum life for a while.

In the meantime, don't accept mediocrity or that our fall is something that we should have expected - it wasn't, and we should demand better from those who preach about having the best interests of the club at heart.

Nice one Young Warwick Fox - great to see you’ve made an instant impact, driving a poster off the Leicester board by labelling him as something he’s totally not. Or maybe that was your intention who knows?

Foxello - I totally 100% get it. The statement from Foxes Trust today “we are where we are” is symptomatic of a fan base too willing to accept the slide into obscurity because we’ve always been a yo-yo team. You’ll know I’ve posted the same for months - at times I’ve even felt some of these fans deserve relegation such is their complacency and loyalty to an administration that is clearly failing

Totally get your reasons for taking a break but I do hope you’ll be back for the new season

Can't you "Complain" about it to the Mods, and ask them directly?

Foxello, sad to hear that you feel the need to take a break but understand your thinking.

You are definitely one of the reasons this group is worth debating with and have helped make this awful season ever so slightly more tolerable so I sincerely hope you'll be back again soon suitably refreshed for what I hope will be a better experience on the pitch.

Couldn’t agree more. Come back soon. And in plenty of time for the prediction league!

Hey Foxello, for what it’s worth I hope your break helps you but is short lived. I enjoy debating with you on this forum and we’re often in violent agreement on many topics, even if you wouldn’t know it 😂.

Please know your contributions are valued and enjoyed by me. As are yours YWF.

It’s diversity and disagreement that makes the world a great place. As long as we respect each others opinions let’s disagree. Keep disagreeing.

Coke back soon Foxello. I want to agree with someone without sounding like I agree with them and who will that be without you?
