We know the mf is the area where we need reinforcements, however...looking back what exactly do we need? Everyone (inc me) were hoping to have the likes of Bellingham etc, but...is he really needed? Yeah GREAT to have...but needed?
Go back to our mf when we were hitting plus 90 points and losing say 2 and 1 game a season, our mf was from these:
Title winning appearances
Henderson..30 app...2200 minutes
Wijnaldum..37 app..2948 mimutes
Fabinho..28 app..2074 minutes
Keita...18 app..814 minutes
AOC..30 app (yep..surprised me too!)...1492 minutes
Milner..22 app..926 minutes
In that list I would say not one would be considered top top midfielder, in terms of creativity and power etc, it was more a mix and very much the sum is far greater than the parts. Top appearances from
Henderson
Wijnaldum
Fabinho
The greatest mf?? Nope, but...the work.ethic and energy was there; my point is "we" ie liverpool do not need Europes best mfs, merely very good ones who have energy and of course ability.
Macallister
Bajcetic
Fabinho
Thiago
Thuram(only because hes linked)
Kone (only because hes linked)
Henderson
Elliott
Curtis
May well be enough imo, as I said our recent history suggests more pace, energy than huge ability is more important to.us...by the way, the above list also has plenty of ability!
We dont need much..

Honestly G_B I put this season down as burn out and can see us competing for if not winning the league next season. A full preseason with Cody and Darwin ready for 23/24 is mouthwatering. If we can get the right Mf cover I’d be more confident and say we 100% will win it

We don’t need too much in terms of numbers but we need a great deal in terms of quality.

If we can get in 2 CM, CB and a RB then I'd be confident that we can compete.
Anything less than those and it will have been a disaster of a transfer window and we'll struggle yet again.

I think you need more than you think.
City top, of course,
After that it's a bunfight.
Chelsea will be in the mix now they've got a manager.
Newcastle already have a manager and €€€
Manu have a manager and will buy
Arsenal showed what they can do
And yourselves.
No guarantees for anyone

Burn out definitely, new attack that needed time to learn the system and a few injuries too.
Get MF sorted with legs and we will be right in the mix

It looks like Macallister, plus Thuram or Kone ( not both ) from what we hear.
A CB too as we have had too many injuries there in the past couple of years.
That wouldn't be a bad window.
