Before i start I just wanna say that I'm happy with the appointment of Ange. Everything I've read and heard leads me to think he's the best candidate we could have got given what we need and where we find ourselves as a club.
Driving around this afternoon listening to the radio, every so called expert/ pundit I've heard is saying its crucial that he's given time to implement his philosophy, get his players in and sell those he doesn't want. It seems to have been a similar situation at Celtic and despite his successful time there, its was a tricky first few months. Hopefully this is why the club has given him a 4 year contract.. Makes perfect sense !
So here's the question, with that said and with everything there is to do at Spurs (a lot) should we be expecting a below par first season ? say 7th or 8th again (Esp given the PL is a lot harder than Scotland). Surely it would be totally unreasonable to expect him to get top 4 and a trophy in year 1. There's a lot of other good teams in far better positions than Spurs with the same objective.
If the above happens and we keep Kane for one more year as some are suggesting and not sell him this summer, have we just wasted one more year of Kane's career (we know his desire for trophies) and have we wasted 1 year of Ange's rebuild ? Obviously if Kane is at Spurs next year the team will be built around him.
Would we better off selling Kane now (use the money) and let Ange build his team from scratch focusing on Totrtenham's center forward for the next 5 years.
Or, if we don't sell Kane, make him go through another transitional season (seems likely) and then lose him for nothing... what have we achieved other than wasting a year of the new manager rebuild and keeping Kane out of the hands of United for one more year. At this point they're not really our rivals (Despite Levy's delusions of grandeur)
I know there are people who say you dont sell your best player or what if things go great and Kane decides to stay at Spurs after next year but anyone advising him would NEVER allow him to do that... It simply makes no sense. I know we all love Kane and none of us want him to go BUT surely there must have been a conversation between Ange & levy where he asked.... "am I only likely to have Kane for 1 season ?"
In short, does keeping Kane for 1 year help a manager on a 4 year contract who's been hired to change everything about the club on a Long term view ?
I honestly can't help thinking that starting Fresh with means starting fresh without Kane if a new long term deal isn't signed this summer.
Would you find it easier to deal with a tricky start/ Lots of changes, new center forward knowing that long term its in the club's best long term interest or would you rather have a rollacoaster season, see signs of a change in philosophy etc and then know that Kane is leaving for nothing.
Don't want this to be about "Selling your best player".. we all know that, its about possibly thinking about life post Kane and what will give Ange the best chance to succeed long term
I dunno how this is gonna play out but now Ange is in its really the only question in town

And before those few pro levy people left get on me about this. Let’s look at history
Sold carrick: didn’t replace him
Sold berbatov : got some useless loan forward frasier Campbell
Sold bale : set us back years with awful recruitment

I think we have to keep Kane.
Ange will be saying "Im here to win stuff, i won stuff everywhere I have been, i hate losing" but Kane isnt stupid, he knows this is a rebuild and that it will likely take a bit of time.
So I guess the question to Kane is, knowing that it may take a bit of time, are you on board or is your simple intention to have a choice of any club in a years time. Appreciate that the club need to show progress and ambition to convince you Mr Kane, but knowing where we are now and what we can realistically achieve over next season, is it likely that you'll sign a new contract at some point between now and the end of your contract?
I would lay it on heavy with Kane. Make him captain, make him the centre of everything, a leader and inspiration, a figurehead, the highest status, responsibility to inspire the next gen. He will not get that anywhere else.
Kane's legacy is secure. He is England's top scorer, England Captain, Spurs' top scorer and will likely be the PL top scorer in time. No one belittles Shearers quality or record just because he only ever won one trophy. Its just whether he can make peace with probably not winning the top trophies in his career, whether that will be a regret that will eat away at him in retirement?
The guy loves Tottenham and I hope he wants to be part of this next era which can hopefully get us back up there and challenging for stuff.

Exactly. We will never see a player as good as lane at the club again imo. Especially one that supports the club
We should take the risk, back the project and convince him to stay
BUT, this is Daniel levy and if in six months time kane is still lining up with Eric dier and Davison Sanchez, he will go.

I'll be interested to see if we still get a DOF in or if Ange just works on signings with Scott Munn.
Has anybody heard anything regarding a DOF or change of plan?
Seems to have gone quiet on the DOF front.

I suspect that there will have been a working list of players before Paratici left and he probably and may be is still opening some doors for us.
I'd expect a new DoF will come in pretty soon and would be surprised if they didnt because their job is more full time, working during the off season as much or more than during the season.

Poste looks to be a Scott Munn hiring to me, looking in his own back yard, we will see when the 1st player is signed

If all this Kane talk is boring the sheite out of you, if he doesn’t go now, it’ll be all season and worse when signing a pre contract in Jan
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pre contract in Jan would only be to go to a foreign club ?

Oh yeah, good point.
It will be constant all year then🤣

He'll possibly have the records he wants by then so will be off.
Sign a pre contract in Jan, then wrap himself in cotton wool to protect himself for his new club..
