Nick Hammond

Appointed temporary football advisor. Looks to be a similar role to Sporting Director.

Previously at Newcastle and signed Trippier for them.

I think it's encouraging that Marathe seems to have learned something from Radrizzani's incompetence: he's not looking for a miracle worker from overseas like TC, Marsch or Gracia, who has no experience of English football.

He would have preferred Rodgers but that's off the table because of relegation. Farke, Parker and Corboran all have experience. Maybe they've previously failed or are unproven in the PL, but we're not in the PL this season.

Personally, it's a toss-up between Farke and Corboran. Parker wears cardigans on the touchline, ffs! I'd imagine Farke has a bit of authority about him and I think we need that at this point.

But in any case, at least Marathe is looking to appoint experienced people - Hammond is a good first step, I think. Perhaps we could consider that these might be short-term appointments, tailored to the strategy of spending the shortest time possible in Div2, and that promotion would require further investment in and development of management as well as players.

Yes, we need to act quickly, but it's not headless chicken, knee-jerk reaction Italian management style, is it?

Well summed up Jazz and I also get Jonty's caution at not getting too excited and carried away but I do think this appointment is a step in the right direction.

However the proof of the pudding etc will no doubt become clearer in the next few weeks.

I certainly hope by then we can all definitely agree we are being steered through calmer waters with more sensibly thought out organised decisions coming from the top and not the crazy dysfunctional nonsense we've all witnessed this last couple of seasons.

Hammond seems like a very sensible stop-gap
appointment. Did a good job at Newcastle.

Er, no … it was a play on Outwood’s comment (see above) mentioning this person called ‘Viera Macca’ … oh well, I thought it was mildly amusing at the time, but not so sure now😁.

Sorry Light.. it's too hot for me but I see it now... very good Viera Macca.... probably some knackered ex French player that Orta would have found us for a snip at £40 million quid venturing under the guise of his more famous countryman a bit like when Souness signed someone for Southampton thinking he was some European superstar but was Infact just their younger not as good brother.... or I may have got that completely wrong, I'm sure someone on here will give a more accurate description.
