Being owned by the Qataris

I imagine it’ll be quite a successful chain of events ..

Huge transfer budget based on our income
New swish stadium / OT fixed up to the level it deserves
Names like Mbappe, Vinicius etc
A return to winning ways, especially with Pep leaving soon and City being relegated.

But I can’t feel excited about it as it has that same feel as when we were earmarked to join the Super League. Just so soulless and with our revenues being so high it’ll almost be like a cheat code with a state backed consortium allowed to spend billions on us without the ghost of FFP haunting them.

I’m aware there will be plenty of glory supporters loving Qatar United but for what it’s worth, it will be another nail in the coffin in the United I grew up loving. But hey, maybe I’m just being over dramatic.

But we're not owned by the US government with the objective of making America look good.

Have PSG made Qatar look good? No.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They have certainly been used to promote the Qatar Airways. Isn't that the whole point?

Sheikh Mansoor has been to watch City play twice in 13 years for example. He sure hasn't missed a trick with opportunities to advertise Abu Dhabi though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don’t think it is the point though as by that logic Arsenal are just as bad then if your concern is the promotion and sportswashing of businesses from the area. Ditto your agreement you’ve had with Saudi for a while now.

United were partners with Aeroflot ffs.

How many times did Vladimir Putin go to Old Trafford?

City/psg/united of it goes through. It's all sportswashing. Didn't Qatar execute like 500 people last year, as well as.murdering a high profile journalist or was that a dif part of the Arab state?

United will be a billionaires plaything imo and it'll be funny to see united fans trying to say how their trophies will still mean something. It'll be total hypocrisy.

Looks as if it could really drag on, sale wise, though. No exclusive bidding rights as of yet and the Glazers want the most they can get so don't see it happening anytime soon.

If people keep upping bids it doesn't make sense to only negotiate exclusively with one party. It's been a 5hitshow tbf but it's clear Glazers give 0 fu5ks about United fans.

Saw on twitter some fans saying they need to take the demonstrations to the Glazers houses in America.....yeah if you like looking like a block of Swiss cheese 😂

If Newcastle get Barrrela for around 50m that'll be some disgustingly good business. Their CM will be hard to beat with him and guimares and.....I never thought I'd say this Joelinton. Value for money semi crazy with their signings. If there's a takeover they are def the modern blueprint.

To be fair if we won trophies in the next few years with Qatari owners the trophies would’ve still been won with money generated by the football club, we do make enough money to spend huge amounts on transfers already, Glazers have never stopped that.

The real influx of cash would be on things like doing the ground up and other parts of the club that have been neglected massively.

This sounded genius in Boris head.

This is exactly how sportswashing works.

Mbappe isn’t a problem, psg will be owned by the same nation, but Kane will take longer, as levy won’t sell so they’ll have to purchase spurs which will delay things.

Try reading what he put again.

The point is about ownership of the club surely, not the promotion of Middle East businesses…

United is on old club with nothing to show in recent years despite massive spending. I wonder why a Qatari banker would want to buy an overrated club at an astronomical price!
