Ruthless - part 2

I recently did an article saying we should be more ruthless with sales, but j think this attitude needs to flow through into other areas of the club as well.

I just read online (for this article I’ll assume it’s correct) that Phil Jones didn’t train once under ETH. I assume the manager told him he wasn’t part of his plans, but if he doesn’t want to find another club, then for me he should train with the reserves or not be paid. Getting £75k per week to do absolutely nothing is a joke, and again if we force players hands maybe they’ll leave or better still, knuckle down and prove the manager wrong like Beckham did at Madrid all those years ago.

Thoughts?

Essentially you think United should ignore contracts and not pay those unable to work through injury or illness.

There have been smarter ideas.

Jones was under contract at Utd, presumably kept fit, turned up for training as required etc. Just cos ETH chose not to pick him, why should he forego his wages?

I’d agree if he has turned up for training - im saying if he didn’t it’s not acceptable.

close the thread. mute point.

Yeah that’s exactly what I said

I know Jones has become rich not playing, but I think it hurt him more than any other player on the books. He would genuinely love to play imo, and regardless of money I feel sorry for him.
He wanted a career, to win thingsbe part of the team. All taken away from him. I'm pleased the club gave him a decent contract.
I don't feel the same about Martial for example

Speaking of ruthless, Gary O’Neil sacked by Bournemouth

The club, as a whole, has become en-cultured with a terrible approach to buying in, keeping and moving on players. Getting it SO wrong in most decisions.

It's even now present in the way they are letting the better players leave the women's team. Fair enough if any good player wants to leave to experience the different types of coaching systems at clubs of near equal stature (particularly those in sunnier climes) but that's not what's happening.

The club is being thoroughly misdirected in all of it's football related departments. And good, ambitious, players won't just hang around if that's the case

Not expecting the club to be "ruthless" in any respect, but it's not unreasonable for anyone to be expecting the club to simply regain more insight, honesty and success-orientation in it's approach to it's dealings with squad inclusion/exclusion.

And Phil Jones' presence/non-presence is, by far and away, NOT the most important problem at the club.

I'm hoping it's not linked to the story last night about a PL manager being investigated on a historical r*pe charge.

Pretty sure he was being held together by sticky tape and couldn't train. Every time he tried he broke down.

Id feel.a bit sorry for him if it wasn't for the fact he had just signed a new contract when the issues started 😂

Who ever gave him a new deal when they did def needs their P45.
