Roberto Vitiello is said to be close to signing a three-year deal as Enzo Maresca's deputy at the King Power Stadium:

Understandable I suppose because he's worked with Maresca before. However I am again underwhelmed if this predicted appointment proves to be correct - in the article it says 'Vitiello has previously worked with Maresca during the duo’s time in charge of Parma, where he was assistant manager. Both were dismissed after just 14 games with the club' and 'After his retirement in 2020, he started his coaching career with Fiorentina, before leaving to assist Maresca at Parma. Vitiello has been out of work since leaving the Italian club in 2021. If his appointment is confirmed, City will be his first club outside of Italy'.
So another guy with little managerial experience. Nothing relevant to the Championship. Doesn't appear to have been able to get a job since being sacked by Parma?
Incidentally, the bookies have us favourites for promotion - obviously not allowing for the Rudkin factor!
I'm returning to , I'm not looking forward to this season.
Roberto Vitiello to join LCFC?

The question is,what hold does Rudkin have over Top?
In any other situation he would be first out the door.
I think Everton had a clear out of their hierarchy even though they stayed up.
So why is Rudkin still here ,what does he bring to the club??
Sad thing is if Top was man enough to get rid of him ,he would have been gone by now.
Looks like we are stuck with him for time being, not give us any confidence at all.

Can't disagree with any of that, although for me the worrying sign is that Top simply does not understand that Rudkin is a massive part of the problems facing the club.

Interesting though at the same time since he's been in charge as DOF we've Won the League, QF of the Champions League, Finished 5th Twice, Won the FA Cup and been in European Football Twice More!
An Amazing Success for ANY Club outside of the Top Four and Better than some of them.
Then fell off a Cliff overseeing the Cancer that was the Rodgers Tumour all but destroy the Club.

If I see one more fan trot out the line ‘oh we won the PL under Rudkin’ I think I’m going to track their IP address and burn their house down
Rudkin had been DoF for about 7 months when we won the PL. It was his first season. You can’t credit ANY of that to him - it was built on the foundations of Pearson and his team, hired on Andrew Neville’s recommendation and under Terry Robinson as DoF
The recruitment team set up and implemented under Steve Walsh was nothing to do with Rudkin and it carried on very effectively until he broke the model. Now you can give credit to Rudkin for bringing Rodgers in through the door in the first place - he was very much his pick. But then again - if you believe Rodgers is the root of all evil that argument begins to fall over
Can someone explain to TB in simple language he would understand that his argument doesn’t make sense? Not an easy task I know

Totally agree 99! TB is totally off beam here as usual!

99 is right here and articulated it well.
Rudkin was tasked with continuing the great model and work set up before him and did for a while until he let his love affair with Rodgers ruin it.
We seem to have sorted our scouting and transfer out again after the Rodgers Congerton disaster but there is a lot of other things still very wrong under Rudkin.
As for the assistant, it’s bey underwhelming isn’t it. But we shall see. I know many of us were hoping Cambiasso might be back with a prominent role but maybe his character is too strong.

Nearly. Except for TB who's obviously in love with Rudders.
