Andrew Tate

Hopefully this is the end of his nonsense and his followers will see him for what he really is:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-65959097

"Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been charged in Romania with rape, human trafficking and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.

His brother Tristan and two associates have also been charged. All have denied the allegations.

The Tate brothers were first arrested at their Bucharest home in December.

In March, they were moved from custody to house arrest following a ruling by a Romanian judge.

The indictment deposited with the Bucharest court says that the four defendants formed an organised criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries including the US and the UK.

It names seven alleged victims who it says were recruited by the Tate brothers through false promises of love and marriage.

Andrew Tate has been charged with raping one of the victims, while his brother has been charged with instigating others to violence.

The trial will not start immediately and is expected to take several years.

A Romanian a judge now has 60 days to inspect the case files before it can be sent to trial."

I'm posting it on here as he's been an unhealthy influence on so many young men over the last few years. Why can't they just stick to football!

DDT is a prime example of ideologists subverting science to cause the unnecessary deaths of millions of people in the name of their own beliefs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

DDT is a fine wrestling move, but I seriously doubt it has caused the death of millions.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

It really is a fine move.

Thankfully religion is dying a death in a majority of the western world, even the US. Hopefully 100 years from now people are not so dumb and gullible and in need of nonsensical guidance like that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Religion has been around 45-200 thousand years.

Do present the evidence that dumb, gullible and religion are not good evolutionary traits, and that the human species is going to survive the next 100 years given all the existential man made threats that have risen with an inverse relation to the decline of religion.

As a non-religious person I find your belief in non-religion religious in nature and not well founded.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a bit early to be on whatever it is you're on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ad hominem, very typical of people with no evidence for their belief system. How original.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

No evidence of their belief system?

Non believers don't need any evidence for their 'belief system'. We aren't the ones that have based our lives around something that after thousands of years still has zero evidence of there being a god.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well perhaps you should given that it's proven evolutionary strategy for human beings.

Understanding there is no proof for god is primary school level, you need to get out of shorts and question it from the angle of whether it's net positive or negative to the human species regardless of how ridiculous it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is negative, absolutely zero doubt. Every single war is religion based.

I see it first hand with family as well, my wifes family are mental and believe in god, their children are suppressed and not allowed to think or learn freely, any mention of dinosaurs for example is removed from their education, anything that goes against religion is removed from their learning. They couldn't be bridesmaids at our wedding as i am a dirty heathen. What parts of that are healthy?

Some points:

1. I'm an atheist, personally.

2. I don't see a problem at all with whatever people want to believe in the private sphere.

3. Religion, whether in the smallest, remotest tribes, or in the largest most technologically advanced societies, has played a key role in politics ever since human communities realised that having a shared moral currency was conducive to conflict resolution.

4. That last point is rarely considered by atheists when we talk about the wars and issues religion causes. Religion has played an absolutely essential role in the establishment of legal codes everywhere around the world, and as such has helped bring just as much peace as it has conflict, if not more.

5. Notwithstanding the above, in such multicultural, multi-denominational societies and can be found in the world today, I do not think it's a good idea at all for the dominant religion in any of those societies to be trying to dictate and impose their the laws on everyone else.

Good post, ioag. I especially agree about point four. It’s not something many are willing to engage with.

I hadn't actually posted on or read any of the thread, except that the last few comments were basically 'religion this, religion that'.

It was the topic of another thread that was going over the weekend too. A few fellow atheists there had been using the usual confrontational rhetoric we often use because we feel that all too often religion people try to ram religion down our throats, but I hadn't really gotten around to giving a proper opinion there. I just saw this and thought, "Why not?"

Come to think of it, I might as well copy and paste it on there.
