Give me your thoughts on this then guys - are you excited about the incomings so far?
Coady -£7.5m with an extra £1m if we get promoted this season seems like very good value for a highly experienced defender with PL experience
Winks - £10m deal seems fairly low risk for a player whose stock has fallen but clearly is decent on the ball and should be a good midfielder at this level

I see Maresca has brought in 4 backroom staff, 3 if whom were with him at Parma.

I think they are reasonable acquisitions, but I've seen that Coady may not be the best in a back 4 - which Maresca will presumably want to play. Also Winks may not have the best injury record.
OK, but a reflection on how far our stock has fallen.

Well you're not going to sign top PL players when in the Championship. Coady is as good as you can get, who is also good enough at PL level in the likely event you're promoted.
I think Winks does a job but that's mainly keeping it simple, keeping possession and getting it to those who make things happen. Depends on the system I guess.

Yeah it’s very difficult getting used to the names we’re being linked with I have to say. However as far as championship signings go - it’s a solid start.
Much also depends on how much or the current squad stay. We need to get rid of Ndidi, Barnes and Castagne will go but there’s a decent core there

Yeah that went particularly well. Similar circumstances to us as well apparently. You just hope he’s learned from that

I think you've got 2 players that will do well well for you.
Championship is a tough league to get out of and these type of players will give you a better chance of getting back up.

2 solid players at this level, no complaints from me.

They are both utter dreamboats, which I think we can all agree is the most important thing here
Coady is an excellent signing IMO. Could well end up being one of the signings of the season. Captain material and his interview with the club website was top quality. His leadership skills were sadly lacking last season.
I am reserving judgement on Winks until I see how Maresca utilises him. I was initially very irritated by it but I am starting to come around to it now. Everyone seems to be saying that he could be a level above this league and will help us to control games. We still need another creative CM to counterbalance the more defensive options we have at the moment.
Overall, fairly pleased so far. £17m for the pair is a bit steep, but it sounds like they will both be integral to Maresca's plans, so it's probably worth paying over the top to get them done and integrated into the club early.
I am still firmly on Team HMS P*ss The League and 110 points

Didn't seem like it was obvious to you, hence my comment.
However since you're claiming it is, let's look at why it didn't seem obvious, using your own words.
"I think they are reasonable acquisitions"
Compared to my words.
"Well you're not going to sign top PL players when in the Championship. Coady is as good as you can get".
Perhaps you didn't mean the words you typed out.

Two solid signings for that division I’d say. For me it’s critical Winks has some creativity around him so I’m keen to see what business we do around him.
Our midfield currently has an overwhelming sense of backwards and sideways about it!
Coady should be a solid signing for this division. This that’s good business.
