........the views posted on here by some are mirrored in the stands at CG this season. Give the guy a break, if he takes the job, then he deserves a chance to show what he can do.
He's an excellent coach and has had success in England and Holland at club level. He learnt his trade under Sir Alex Ferguson at Man Utd. He has numerous contacts in football, he will attract some quality players, we might even get some decent loanees in from the likes of Man Utd.
Come on guys and girls, just give him a chance and we might be pleasantly surprised.
As for the obviously obsessed sheep and bin robbers, keep taking the mick, we'll see what the next season brings.
I feel sorry for Steve McClaren if....

I feel sorry for Forest, this is the kind of appointment that rival fans will love IMO, a bit like the blunts when they got Brain Robson. He's done nothing of note and I just can't help thinking Forest, who I'd love to see back in the prem, are going nowhere for a few seasons.
Probably a bit like our appointmanet of Megson come to think of it too.

I'd like to be positive most of the time but I'm struggling with this "master-stroke" from ND. I hope I'm proved wrong of course but he's one of those managers who doesn't inspire confidence in fans. Like you said, we'll wait and see.

Completely agree. His name has been tainted since the England debacle, but let's admit it no one has ever come out of that job unscathed.
It was only a couple of days ago he was being linked with several Premier League clubs. I think this is a perfect opportunity for him to prove his doubters right. You don't get the national job and win the dutch league by fluke. He has come through the ranks and Man Utd and, as you rightly say, is well connected throughout Europe. He will attract the type of players we need to push for promotion.
Furthermore, if reports are right, he will be handed a significant transfer kitty.
BD achieved good things here, but he was his own worst enemy. For those deriding Doughty for sacking him, let's just look at it objectively. Only last summer after his first full season (with a significant transfer budget), he showed zero loyalty by publicly inviting clubs to approach him! (anyone remember the famous interview with scottish tv!?)
No person is greater than the club.
The way i see it, Doughty has a true ambition to get this team into the Premiership, that requires investment. Why should he hand over his own money to someone who publicly slams him and has demonstrated his disloyalty on several occasions?
Let's give our backing to McClaren, he deserves a chance.

I think it's brilliant that the dirty sheep are laughing at this appointment cos it highlights just how bad their manager is if they have such a low opinion of SM who is miles better than NLN

They got nothing better to do, notice how he didn't argue about my last post
