New Captain?

Who should it be?

Personally I'm gutted Henderson is going, but understand the money is just too good to turn down. No, he wouldn't have played as much over the next couple of years, but him going leaves a huge gap in leadership on and off the field.

When Gerrard went, he was the clear choice to take over. I don't see a clear choice now.

Yes, we have captains of their respective national teams in the squad, but there is no stand out for me in terms of a Liverpool Captain.

I'd love it to be Trent, but I wonder if it may be too much after all the negatively from the papers last season. He didn't let it get to him too much, so maybe has the strength and the Captaincy could make him stronger.

I'd hazard a guess that Van Dijk jogging while people were whizzing past him is a good indication that he gave up.

My word.

Christ TOOR vvank yourself off any harder and you'll rip your co ck off. Too many posters on here far more interested in being superior than actually having a discussion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A bit hard to have a discussion with a guy that buries his head in the sand just to attract attention and be contrarian, calls our best CB some derogatory names and accusing him of giving up because some players went past him.

Don't act like you're interested in a discussion. Most of your views are intentionally extreme and rely on shock factor to Garner attention.

Cos as i said, the amount of times he gave up and the manner in which he defended/played, body language and attitude is all we have to go on as fans.
=====
That's your opinion tbh. His body language has always been like that IMO, even when we were on top. They don't call him a rolls Royce for nothin, and believing that he "gave up" is utterly ridiculous to me. How do you know he gave up? That's basically deciding to believe whatever you prefer as there can be no way to tell whether he gave up at any time.

A better more hardworking midfield will improve our defence more than VVD. What we need is Salah to go back to 30 goals in the league and someone to replace Mane's goals in the team.

Believing he just gave up? I facking watched it all season, go bk to match threads if u want ull prob see me calling it out numerous times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's doesn't mean or prove that it's not probably nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ofc it does more proof than u just deciding its nonsence you could probably figure out what match what time it happened and everything if u wanted and itd be there to look at. More than just oh its all in ur head making it up nonsense because i dont agree with it or believe it.

‘It was disappointing,’ Crouch told BT Sport.

Chelsea star Joe Cole, who also had a spell at Liverpool, also critical of the defender’s reaction having been at fault himself.

‘It’s a simple ball over the top. He gets back in but now he needs to switch on, he should be in business’ Cole said.

‘When have we ever seen Virgil van Dijk just stroll past someone in that situation? He just switches off.

‘Look at that reaction, you don’t want that from your captain.’

Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender Scott Minto claimed during talkSPORT’s coverage of the game that Van Dijk “gave up” for Bournemouth’s goal.

but yeah i must have dreamt it, absolute nonsense.

And yeah ofc i get that its his style and can come across as but even with that taken into consideration i still recall being disgusted with some of the sheit he pulled last season of which there was more than bournemouth. And for that my opinion is, in relation to this article VVD wouldn't be my choice in replacing Hendo as captain.

So what you're saying is VVD has been top class for us for years, but he made some mistakes last season, when the whole team was poorer, and so on that reasoning you don't want him as captain? Pathetic barometer tbh.

First off that's one time, and even if there was a couple or so more it's nowhere near enough to offset the years of service VVD has given to us. Hardly anybody deserves to be captain if you use that ridiculous standard.

Just because some unrated pundits said it one time doesn't mean it's not nonsense. Because of the way he plays he has even been called lazy in the past. More defending to do inevitably leads to more mistakes. It's the law of averages/probability.

Nobody is arguing that he was great last season or didn't make mistakes. He wasn't any more or less crap than the likes of Fab, TAA, Robbo, Hendo... The question here is whether he should be captain. The reasons you present for not wanting VVD as captain are clearly a bit of a joke IMO.

Allison is a great choice for captain. The only reason I prefer VVD is because for me I want the captain to be an outfield player. Allison will get it next perhaps as VVD will probably expire in the next 2-3 years. I wouldn't be crying into my cornflakes if Allison was made captain, or anyone else for that matter.

Dont care what hes done, doesnt make him immune from criticism. Ive stated why he wouldnt be my choice for captain and made my points as to why and i feel theyre reasonable and justified. Nothing to do with what other people be or how good they are as pundits it was a case to prove it wasn't just nonsense that oculd be discarded because someone disagrees..

it was a valid point and reasoning to why its my opinion and part of it. My opinion is my own based one what i witness last season and how i feel about it.

I see why you're happy with it and saw your points along with toors and accept them for what they are, notgoing to call them nonsense cos i dont agree though.

Nobody said he's immune from criticism. No player is.
