What have Spurs done to the media for them to target us with all these made up stupid stories?
- Apparently, Kane’s wife, who is heavily pregnant and due to give birth in a couple of weeks, was house hunting in Munich over the weekend, whilst Kane himself is half way around the world. Oh, and none of this is supported with photographic evidence as far as I’m aware.
- Apparently, Joe Lewis, who hasn’t even been to a Spurs game for almost a decade, has suddenly laid down the law and told Levy to sell Kane now.
- Apparently, we are one of five clubs interested in signing Mbappe.
The above are just a few recent examples and I have to say that the Mbappe rumour is fully taking the p*ss.
It’s all designed to generate more ridicule towards the club, but at the same time it’s also designed to be click bait and to increase newspaper sales etc.
Maybe would should see it as a compliment that everyone in the media wants to talk about Spurs. I hadn’t quite realised the extent to which we are living rent free in their heads!!
With apologies to SteveF!
Spurs In The Media

Big club tings...everyone says they don't care about Spurs but we are always in fans minds.
Just a shame we have a weak chairman who can't arm the club against its enemies with a powerful football team. He thinks F1 and Concerts is bragging rights

I dont see it as a conspiracy and i dont think most fans do.
But there is certainly bias towards other teams and unequal treatment of teams in assessing their situations and achievements or lack of it.
As said above, Spurs are an easy target and it is almost standard to mention Spurs' lack of trophies when commenting on anything Spurs.
At no point last season did i hear a commentator speculate "that might be Rashford's last goal for United" "last goal at Old Trafford" "where will he be playing next season etc etc" and we heard that noe stop about Kane, and do so every season.
Rashford has one FA Cup 7 years ago and this years EFL trophy to his name. It's hardly the sort of trophy haul that keeps you at a club if your ambitions but there was barely if any mention of the possibility of him moving.
This is the sort of treatment that i think fans witness and feel that the treated meted out by most of the football media is different.

I was listening to that Scouse mug Danny Murphy a couple of weeks ago and he was talking about the new season, the way he was talking this season will be a title race between City and his beloved Varpool, he was dismissive of the other clubs and talking as though Varpool will be the only rival to City. This is the kind of positive spin and bigging up that the media love to bestow upon their darlings.

If Spurs suffer any ridicule it's more because of some of their fans than any nationwide media conspiracy.
This article is a good example as it brings more ridicule on Spurs than anything the media has ever written.

You couldn't make it up, a Scouser talking about bringing ridicule on a club. Scousers are the biggest mugs going.

We are a threat to the media`s darling clubs, they don`t want Spurs taking a place in the CL ahead of the likes of Varpool & Penited, consequently we get these stories put out there to unsettle and belittle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If that was the case i think Spurs would be far down on the list of teams to be worried about, no offence.

Hardly a shock is it? The only team come close to them in many many many years? You’d have a point if Liverpool had performed like Spurs in recent times which is what you are behaving like is the case and its a wild prediction of bias by Murphy.

It lacks proper assessment though.
Just because something happened in the past doesnt mean it will happen in the future (other than Spurs winning jackshiiit ).
If you look at Liverpool, their defence has declined over the last few seasons and this has not been addressed so far this summer (players now run past VVD and that never used to happen). Your midfield has been an issue and while the 2 signings will improve it, the loss of Hendo, Fabinho (has he gone, but regardless his quality has declined) the perma-injured form of Thiago, the ok youth players you have there, all point to transition in this part of the pitch, with no certainty it will work or click straight away.
Arsenal look a more settled outfit than LFC and have added depth in defence which was probably their weakness last season and quality in CM and attack.

This happened to us before under Klopp where we had a season and just scraped top 4, then we went on to win the CL the league and went 2 games from the quadruple.
Not expecting it to happen again, i think we'll struggle again in a fight for top 4 in a transitional period. Still isn't a shock some like Murphy would expect us to be back as Cities closest challengers, lot of people do including Utd fans etc.
