Financially doped Tottenham Hotspur.

For years now Spurs posters have been meaning on about Chelsea, Man City and lately Newcastle (even Wolves!) being financially doped. Some even going so far as to say that no competitions won by these teams even count.

Now look at the state things have arrived at, although I do have to say that in these difficult times it is nice to wake up to a headline news story that makes you smile.

OP

As if Levy has ever pumped a single pound into Spurs. Whereas both Chelsea and City are, and have been funded by very dubious owners who have pumped endless amounts of laundered money into both clubs. And one is still being investigated for its dodgy dealings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He put 150m in only last year, not sure about previous to that though.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was a share issue, meaning ENIC increased their share to 87.5% from 85.6%, it wasn`t a gift
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Didn’t say it was a gift, it’s still a capital investment into the club. It’s exactly the same as how Mansour did it with us (and what more owners should do tbh).

Love this justification. It's like a kid arguing his gangster father is better than other gangster fathers because he doesn't spend any of that money on him

This. Some of the £150m was used for last summer's transfer spend.

And when they invested £15m a few years ago we brought Jermain Defoe.

A capital investment used used to purchase a larger stake in the club, that is not spending money, its is moving money around, money which will continue to multiply.

Financial doping is sponsoring yourselves with over inflated sponsorship deals, falsifying accounts etc etc, all of which the likes of City are charged with

Eh?! Of course it’s spending money! It’s creating additional shares that are purchased by Enic. You’re right the hope is it leads to a significant return on investment, again that’s no different to what Mansour did with us.

In terms of financial doping, that wasn’t what it meant when Wenger made it up or how it’s defined if you google it, nor was it what people meant when talking about us for most of the last decade. That’s just applying different criteria to it now because it’s always been a stupid term and idea that has led to people justifying owners getting huge roi with no risk or even investment themselves.

And just to be clear, neither Uefa or the PL have accused or charged us of overinflating sponsorship deals, I think you meant to say disguised owner funding there didn’t you?

£150 m of illegally obtained money it now appears possible. Innocent until proven guilty, but Lewis and those around him have always been dodgy.

End of the day there is abit of Joe Lewis in all of us. He is just an old innocent law abiding, tax paying gentleman. The tears he brings to your face should be celebrated 👍🏻

Spending illegally obtained money is clear money laundering and financial doping. Spurs inability to due Due Diligence on senior employees should have told them to look at every deal they have done.
