Firstly. We haven't got any money have we? Not unless we sell one of star players whom we only have 3 or 4 left. We had Sam Byram at left back yesterday for heavens sake, albeit he played well, we've spent 2 weeks trying to land a 32 year old keeper who only Hull want, and now we're being linked with Mason Holgate on loan 😐
Lets get real chaps, we aint signing Piroe and/or Hamer. When was the last time we signed the best player already in this league, yet alone 2? We'd have done it by now if we were genuinely serious about getting out of this league.
Happy to be proven wrong regarding the latter, but we're looking in the basement bin and we've got more chance of Bamford leading the line, than the Dutchman from Swansea.
Piroe to Leicester or Southampton
Hamer to Fulham or Burnley
Calling it now.
Lets be honest

Just a friendly, and he got his circus tap in,
but, once again we show as a team we are
capable of creating chance after chance.
Sadly, we don't have a striker with a killer
instinct. If we bring in a goal scorer with a
nasty attitude, we walk this division.

Add a clinical finisher to this squad, even if we sign nobody else, and we have half a chance.
If we're still relying on Bamford this season it's nothing short of a disgrace.

49ers saved themselves 230m on buying leeds as we were relegated.
Should be no issues with funding surely….
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was thinking the same thing, only they saved about £129m…56% of £400m = £224m, and 56% of £170 = £95m. Agree that there should be no issues with funding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the issue is more about how much we are allowed to lose. Don’t forget we lose the Prem money now and I’m not sure £30m a year covers it.
So maybe caution is forced upon them - or they go for broke and just hope we go up.

The club seems to have a problem being honest. I understand about commercial confidentiality but one look at the Beeb Championship page shows how far behind our rivals we are becoming.
Why aren’t we signing any players? (after Ampadu which seems like good business). Can we not afford it? Do we have to sell to buy? Can we not offload anyone to sell? Do new players simply not want to join us? Do we believe we’ve already got what we need?
With all the (welcome) hype generated by Farke/takeover/Ampadu, we’re now seemingly really struggling to close a deal for a 30-something journeyman-keeper for a few £100k who’s played about 50 games in the past 5 years.
The public image of our club atm is a club in a bloody mess.

I can understand your frustration and it is difficult not to draw some of those conclusions. I suspect that there are lots of moving parts and that Hammond/Farke have the players lined up and conversations have been had with targets. It could be that the selling club are wanting to get a player in first and then will sell. Don't think that's the case with Newcastle and Darlow.
I have a feeling we'll get Darlow done today and then there is going to be another gap up to the transfer deadline week and we could see quite a lot happen that week. It's not how we want it, but I remember Farke saying something to that effect a few weeks back about us going up to the window. It does raise the question about other clubs getting so much business done, but then they were not getting taken over. Just trying to make sense of it.

Do people want the club to rush signings in, for whatever fee the other club wants? The club is having to negotiate, because we are trying to sign quality.
All well and good saying to just go get Piroe, but Swansea want 20 million for a player they might lose on a free next summer. Leeds are playing a game of high-stakes chicken with them, gambling they drop the.prive before the end of the window.

If you have no money you don't spend 7m on one player
Seems clear to me were having to wait to figure out whose leaving before we can focus on our incoming. We obviously can't go crazy, but I'm happy with Ampadu and Darlow.
These loan outgoings thanks to Orta are scandalous
I'd expect to see more signings and money spent over the coming weeks

Holgate would be a great Championship signing.

According to the Athletic a few teams are planning to. activate a release clause in Tyler Adams contract set at £20 million.
A steal at that price and yet another feck up by the club.

For me it's not the time it's taking to bring players in, it's more the time it's taking to get players out.
The players we brought in last year turned out to be duds. All of them except Sinisterra and Adams can go. Sini is staying so all we need is to settle with Adams one way or the other. I'd be happy if we bring in a striker.
The right one, don't care how long it takes.
Were seeing how the team is shaping up and imo it's good enough right now to get to the playoffs minimum.

Agree, Mont. Last season Orta brought in players like they were going out of fashion without a thought to which positions we needed to fill. It was as if whenever his dodgy contacts flagged up there was a player going cheap, Orta said, 'Yes, send 'em our way' and I'll give 'em nice easy terms to leave on loan if they want out next season.' The guy was out of control and what we want now is restraint and sensible buying. Between them, Farke and the 49ers have got their collective head screwed on and I trust them to take us forward in the right way. Bring on the new season.
