Does anyone have thoughts on the new rule where there are 9 substitutes in a 20-player matchday squad?

An interesting one. I think it is the way the wind has been blowing so not surprised it is has come to the championship too.
It didn't work out for us last year because it places more importance on tactical and in game changes on the manager and we had likes of Marsch and Gracia presiding over it. Whereas I feel that Farke will be smarter with it and it could help us change up games where we need something different. Keeps people on the fringes of the team more involved and contributing. Overall I like it. Will be interesting to see if we get longer and longer injury time too with more disruptions to game.

I note that with so many players sent out on loan who cannot qualify as homegrown players for the club, Victor did not do the club any favours with his recruitment policy.
It will be interesting to see if some clubs can fill the bench.

5 subs as well rather than 3 allowed. So the teams with a bigger squad will have an advantage. More reason why we need a bigger squad

I'd ay the strength of our squad is probably already ahead of most championship teams. Certainly across a breadth of positions.
This was always going to happen as an extension of having 5 subs. Before you would have games where literally one outfield player stayed on the bench. Just silly.

Hopefully still time to get more quality in for those positions where we are short.

You can make five changes from 9 subs named is what was meant.

It is 9 subs, five substitutions allowed. It is a bit confusing. Though if they have 9 subs on the bench, how long before it is more than five substitutions? The clubs
are paying for 9 subs, so they will want to use all of them.

I can't think of many occasions in a competitive match where a manager is going to want to make 9 changes, unless its to time waste.

It would get more minutes into legs when the match has been won. It would mean that players would not carry knocks for half of the match. I reeber watching competitive matches when substitutes were not allowed
