For me heading into the 23/24 season there is not enough stability at the club. New owners. New manager. New scouting.
There are plenty of questions heading into the season.
Is the squad big enough?
- With 9 players already injured do we just have too many injury prone players? Bamford Sini Byram Firpo Cooper Poveda have all struggled massively. Dallas may never play again given the recent news coming out of the club.
Who is going to score the goals?
- With only 1 senior out and out striker who is made of biscuit will we rue missed chances and opportunities all season? There are goals from out wide but the central midfielders do not score, the full backs are not flair and our senior central defenders have 50p heads at set-pieces.
The squad has poor balance still?
Despite a close season to get this huge problem of last season right we simply have not. The sensible decision would have been to sell 2 wingers and reinvest in areas of the field we are short. RCB LB CM ST.
Contract lengths?
Heading into the campaign with 7 of the players on the last year of their contracts.
Still one month before the deadline?
Some of the questions may still get answered. Farke said that he cannot rule out players leaving. Fans would always prefer business to be done early but Leeds rarely are ahead of the game. August could be an unsettling period yet for the club.
Can the kids step up?
Cresswell remains our only right centre back so will he start or will we go left-left. Did a decent job at Millwall so this season is a big one for him.
Summerville/Gnonto - flashes of brilliance but we need them to turn into consistent performers this season.
Drameh another who has impresssed with two championship loans. Can he step up and make the right back position his own.
Gyabi/Gray may well play a lot of games this season. Gray looks likely to start the season. Gyabi was an expensive luxury last season
Gelhardt/Greenwood the potent partnership of U23 football have yet to produce the goods at senior level. Both players have been on a steady decline and need to produce this season
Where are the absent players?
Helder Costa back at the club and on all training videos yet he has not been selected in any squad and does not have a squad number. Fans are contributing to his wages. What is going on?
James Debayo. Still no news on this U18 England international who's contract ran out in June. Very strange situation with absolutely zero news on his status.
Ouasim Bouy is still dining out on the fans money. Honestly think its a disgrace when this situation evolves.
The season ahead

Don’t like to be the bearer of bad news but expect Tyler to go in the next week or so,

Be great news, vastly over rated.
But if its a loan, i’ll be fooking fuming

I’m fully expecting a few more players to leave, including Adams, Gnonto, Meslier (and someone please take Firpo!) - and if they want to leave, that’s clearly for the best. But given the number of invalids we’ve got in our squad (9 crocked before the season’s even started) I’d also be disappointed if Farke didn’t bring in at least two before the end of the transfer window. Ideally a striker and - you’ve guessed it - a left back. Given the knock-down price the 49ers bought us for, I can’t believe money’s a problem.

I still think we could lose any of these
before the window closes:
01. GK Illan Meslier (23) (3)
06. LCB Liam Cooper (31) (1)
03. LB Junior Firpo (26) (2) INJURED
12. CM Tyler Adams (24) (4) INJURED
11. LM Jack Harrison (26) (5) INJURED
29. LM Willy Gnonto (19) (4)
10 RM Crysencio Summerville (21) (3)
With Ampadu getting the #4 shirt, means that
Adams is almost a dead cert to leave to either
Villa or Chelsea.
Gnonto also could be gone.
Jack I wouldn't be shocked if he goes transfer
day deadline.

Adams doesn't have a loan clause. That's what I read.
He does have a 25 mill release clause. Right now,
I'd take that and plow it back into the team and be happy.

Don't trust them to spend it well, they'll want someone like Ashley Young or Barry Bannan

I don’t think that’s the worst news. As long as the money is good and spent well.
Sign a replacement, a RCB and a forward or 10 with the money.
The club should have these targets lined up.
But do they?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I might not agree with you about the ease in which we may beat Cardiff tomorrow but I do on this potential Adams leaving soon rumour. Just hope like you say new signings are lined up and ready to hit the ground running.

I’d be disappointed with Coops if he did go. Yes, taking the Saudi’s filthy lucre would give him a generous payday near the end of his career but he’d be leaving us in our hour of need - and I’m assuming he hasn’t done too bad financially by us for most of his career. Imo to get out of this league we need players with spirit and passion for this club, and god knows we have precious few of those.
