Derby v Blackpool
EFL Cup - Tuesday 8th August, 1945, Pride Park
We’ve all to cut down on stuff due to the sheer mendacity and corruption of some people in London.
So, here is my cut down - a paucity of a MT from a cliff top taverna.
Chance to make amends from Saturday? Vent the frustration? Not really the start we wanted but we still have 45 matches left.
Tonight is a free hit - enjoy - and thanks for your comments xx
First XI: Vickers (GK), Wilson, Hourihane (C), Bradley, Cashin, Bird, Waghorn, Smith, Washington, Elder, Nelson.
Subs: Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Collins, Thompson, Ward, Robinson, Rooney, Brown, Bardell.

Don't rub it in Ang!
Mind you I've just watched the whole Blackpool game on Rams TV and after the RD commentary I was expecting much worse. It did not seem too bad on the small screen although I appreciate that watching live may have given a different perspective.
It seems to me that we just need more time to gel and get used to the system and one another and get two or more players in. Or am I just too optimistic?

The day Spart failed to take up his usual seat will live long in the memory, though I didn't realise at the time what was going on. It started with a far-off murmur, which gradually increased in intensity until it became a loud and sustained roar. Even from a hundred yards away you could see the glistening of cheeks as people wept tears of pure joy. Fans cavorted, linked arms and danced around the vacant seat. It was reminiscent of the scenes from V. E. Day.
For years we had noticed grim-faced individuals heading for that section of the ground. The weak amongst them had long since given up their seats and moved elsewhere, but the true fans recognised that to support means to suffer and that perhaps submitting themselves to the greatest suffering of all might in some way increase the team's chance of success. Spart telling them that this was superstitious nonsense only strengthened their resolve. You now see the same fans going to their turnstiles with beatific smiles, free of care. It's truly wonderful to behold.

Excellent follow up Vidal.
Goodbye Darkness and farewell Mr. Garrulous
Moving away from the doom and gloom and onto the PL for a moment, mainly to focus on Luton Town ad Sheffield Utd. Or as some Londoners are calling them Sheffield.
Is this the season that our record haul of 11 points will finally be broken? I had high hopes that Luton Town would help given they've over achieved just like our Derby squad did. However what is incredibly remarkable is their recruitment with the notable addition of Ross Barkley yesterday.
Yes his career has taken a notably decline since being herald as the next big thing after Rooney. But as a big fish in a small pond I can see him doing well and Luton catching a few clubs off guard.
Sheffield Utd look to be in freefall losing their best player to Marseille and Berge leaving for Burnley. Given their financial constraints are we finally going to see one of these two clubs struggle in the similar way Derby did when they went up far too soon?
