Transfer policy that we got so wrong

Every season clubs that go down find their better players are targets for Prem clubs, we're seeing it right now with Harrison and Gnonto.

Leeds however turn their nose up at this tactic.

Get promoted, Raphinha, Rodrigo, Lllorente, Koch, Firpo etc.
Next season, Aarsonson, Adams, Roca, Kristiansen, Sinisterra etc

This, is pretty much entirely down to Orta.

You throw in some players from relegated teams into that bunch, you save yourself money and you probably dont get relegated.

Apart from the gem that was Raphinha, not one prem club has come in for any of these except Adams. They've seen them up close and realised they're poor quality, so it's proven a double whammy. Players who can't be moved on properly and who get us relegated.

I dont believe the loan clauses are Orta's responsibility, but shopping in the wrong street is.

Yes, but the choice of players was Ortas.

This is about the type of players we signed.

I think one way or another a club statement must be issued tomorrow on how the club plans to counter all these players leaving left right and centre and how the hell are we expected to believe we have a cat in hells chance of challenging for the top 6.

The longer there is silence and no evidence of matters improving then the more there is going to be bad blood and toxicity aimed at the new owners which increases the negativity already impacting on Farke and what he
has left of the dwindling first team squad.

"how the hell are we expected to believe we have a cat in hells chance of challenging for the top 6."

When have any of them said the expectation is challenging for top 6?

They haven't.. I'm saying it.. It's a perfectly reasonable fan expectation considering the support the club gets and Leeds having the biggest matchday revenue in this league. What did the owners expect Leeds fans to think we'd finish this season before all this crap hit the fan?

Plus Paraag's implication in what he said in his introductory PR exercise video was that they would be aggressive in ensuring that Leeds being in the Championship was only a bump in the road or words to that effect...If that isn't supposed to be seen as a statement of serious intent for Leeds this season to be up there challenging I don't know what is or how else you're supposed to interpret it.

Anyway Jonty I sincerely hope tomorrow brings some kind of relief to all this doom and gloom that appears to have attached itself to Leeds like a rotten smell you just can't get rid of.... They need to get the joss sticks out urgently!

I lunderstand the fact that he didnt make a concrete statement as to where we're expected to finish, even though internally they must have set some sort of goals.

The problem is, fans then make up their own interpretation and owners are clever like this, they let fans make it up, but they never make a direct quote that can come back to them. That was why press invitation the next week was really sneaky as press kept saying "we understand" etc so nothing could be directly attributed to 49ers.

That's red flag right there for me.

My expectations like you were top 6, that was before our team transformed from first teasers to last seasons loan out players.

I'm not sure what they can say at this point except bear with us.

But with LUST calling for a statement its a first real indicator of how much they truly understand the fans.

Summer 2021. Had a great first season back up, then followed it up by only adding James & Firpo.

Root of where it all went wrong.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

1989 we knew we were going up from day 1 even after the 5-2 at Newcastle, a lot of those that were there will tell you it’s the best season they’ve had following Leeds, all signings were done well before 1st game, I know things have changed with transfer windows and the premier league but I thought the same this year I knew we’d sell some players as the squad was lopsided but with the right signings it would be plain sailing, I still haven’t given up hope that a plan might be in place and we can all speculate but August 31st will tell us where we stand, I do agree though there has been some shocking planning.

I've been scouting around various social media platforms to see what others are making of all this crazyness and from my limited understanding of finances, even though many moons ago I started out in accountancy and Els did touch on all this loan clause business in a thread a couple of weeks ago, but basically it does probably back up what Els tried to explain what the method was behind all this madness.

I will try to put it in as simple terms as I understand it and if this is incorrect then those on here with a more specialised knowledge of these things can hopefully contribute.

Basically if the club had sold all those players that collectively we bought for £100 million we would probably have been lucky to have recouped half of that meaning a £50 million loss going on the balance sheet.

By loaning all these players it technically means that the players in question would have a far higher book value collectively of about £80 million therefore a much smaller loss that keeps the club onside with the FFP rules even though it means tragically we have no actual money from those players.

That to me as crazy as it all seems is the only logical explanation for doing all this which is unfortunately a direct consequence of Orta effectively being allowed to influence the club signing most of these players who were wholly unsuitable for the EPL and paying way way way over the odds for them.

It's a massive hole the club has dug for itself but we can only hope the 49ers have enough about them to get at least 6 good quality replacements for Farke before the window closes and we can stop imagining the worst.
