United's chief operating officer has confirmed that the club will make the final decision on Greenwood, amid recent reports that the women's team would have the final say:
"We've done a really detailed and thorough internal investigation, and we've asked as many people as we can around what happened and try to understand it beyond the original investigation done by the police," Roche said.
"You'd expect us to engage with people who were relevant in terms of stakeholder groups. And now, we just need to make the decision. That decision is firmly a decision that's on us."
=================================
So there we have it. Despite what some morons said, we have carried out our own through investigation and relevant stakeholders have been consulted. All that is left now is for the club to make that final decision.
I don't think that we have handled the situation well in recent weeks, but at least we now have clarity and hopefully the pressure has been removed from the women's team.
It would seem that there must be some disagreement between the decision makers if they still can't make their mind up. Or perhaps they are just delaying whilst trying to sell Greenwood for a reasonable fee. I guess if we announce that he is surplus to requirement that his value will drop.
Hopefully we can get the situation resolved before the window closes and move on.

Remember it took the withdrawal of key witnesses as well as the new evidence that came to light

Probably the same thing, or very closely related

Where will you go if the unthinkable happens mate? Pack in the game? Look to the lower leagues?
-----------------------------------------
No Rosso, I'll not be supporting anybody else and I'll just continue watching other football and the youth teams as normal.
I might start going to more England games now though.
You?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will probably focus my attention more on other activities, but will still get across to see Portimonense occasionally and realistically will also probably watch more Primeira Liga.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It'll be a bloody shame if the club loses good people like you but I understand of course.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Beyond the wider ramifications in terms of helping (or otherwise) address the UK’s chronic domestic violence problem - we shouldn’t forget for a moment whilst we’re in the context of this debate that more than one in four women in the UK suffers some form of domestic abuse in their lifetime - I’m more worried about what it’ll do to female support for the club and support for the women’s game, more widely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely. I know the consequences of domestic abuse pretty close hand so well understand the concerns. That's why I'm not just going on what the CPS state. I sound like a broken record but I just can't get past the audio and video and the way he spoke.
I'm sure we've all said harsh things in arguments but there was something cold about the way he said that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember it took the withdrawal of key witnesses as well as the new evidence that came to light for the case to collapse, so it’s not as if they solely prosecuted initially just on the audio.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True. So they may well have had a body of evidence of months/years that suddenly wasn't available to them. Or have I misread what you've stated?

Pretty much in terms of a body of evidence that suddenly wasn’t available. It also means there were witnesses that were willing to testify with enough evidence that they believed they could get a conviction and for some considerable time.

Exactly Diafol. And I've never said anything like that to any woman, let alone the woman I love.

An illuminating Twitter thread by the journalist Adam Crafton on how the club were given the opportunity to comment on the story about planned rehabilitation of Greenwood, requested an extension on the deadline to comment, thereby delaying the article, and then put out the public statement before the Athletic could publish, evidently trying to get ahead of the story. Duplicitous on top of everything else.

I hope Greenwood stays and plays for Man Utd. The best striker we had in last 10 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He really really wasn't, isn't and won't be.
But that's all completely irrelevant anyway, the evidence that he is completely unfit to be anywhere near decent society (let alone the club) is more than sufficient to physically throw him out of the club (and city) AND make him pay back every penny spent on him.
He's absolute 5cum.
