Morning All.... Happy Friday !!!
Looking forward to the game tomorrow, Sun's gonna be out, Big opening home game of the season..... The post Kane era begins at home.. what could possibly go wrong ?
Personally, I think/hope Spurs will win a close one.... Real statement game for Ange.
Hopefully Romero will be fit (not seen any news, either way), worst case having Sanchez as back up may not be the worst thing in the world, United will most likely try to hit us on the break and his pace might be key ?
Only changes I would make to the team that started vs Brentford would be....
Sarr to start over Skipp........ Thought Skipp was a passenger Vs Brentford, the game passed him by. I like a midfield balance of Bissouma centrally getting the ball of the CBs, dictating the tempo of play like he did Vs Brentford. Madders to play as a creative 10 with Sarr providing the energy to play Box to Box and get up in support of Richie.
Porro to start instead of Kulu.... As much as I like him, getting a bit tired of the way he plays, too predictable, too slow not enough early balls into the box. We no longer have a creative CF, In Riche we have a penalty box player..... We need some early delivery, decent crosses for him to attack and the opportunity for him to get in behind their back 4. Kulu is too slow and too predictable. As good as his left peg is, every time he cuts from the right, he compresses all the space and makes it too congested for Richie to operate.
We need to spread the game (wingers to play high & wide), create better space and give the likes of Madders and Richie a bit more room to play.
Other than that,... Son needs to leave his clown shoes at home, AWB is as good as there is defending one on one, He also needs to challenge their FB down the outside for a change.
Basically, a repeat of the second half Vs Brentford would be great. The FBs have to be careful with this tucking into midfield (Needs to be done at the right time as United have real pace on the break

Diamond, pretty well the way I am thinking team selection. United will be easier to play against than Brentford. They won`t just pack their defence, so Son should have more space. Definitely Skipp will be replaced, and I would have no problem in Porro or Solomon starting over either Son or Kulu. But I doubt Son will get dropped just a week after his getting the captaincy.
3-1 Spurs for me as well.

Yeah... No chance Son will get dropped. We need him to play his way back into form. If he was injured for much of last year (as been claimed) then he's still a massive threat when he's on his game.... He has to play. Kulu's place is at risk. Simply put, when both on their best form, Son is a far better player

I was pleased when Ange took him off last week though. One thing that worried me about making son captain was that he would become undroppable. If Sonny doesn’t get back to form quick, now that levy has sold Kane, we need to replace 30 goals and we don’t have the luxury of giving Sonny another 15 games to hope he gets back to his best. If he isn’t up to it, he needs to be replace, doesn’t matter how many tourists are in the crowd to watch him.

Good team but I start Kulu then sub him if he doesn't deliver. I can see Son being in Wan Bissaka's pocket. He is more of a worry than Kulu for me.
Should be a good game. Hope we attack from the off!

As much as they try not to be, United are basically a counter attacking team. That is when they are most effective. And against us that is how they will view the best way to approach us.
So may be not quite so defensive as Brentford but be prepared to see them sit in and counter.
I am not making any prediction as I have not seen enough of us yet to see if and how we can cope against a supposed top team who could hurt us on the break.
Right now it could go either way and no doubt the ref will be centre stage for United.

at old trafford last season i think that was the best anyone played against us last season, most flattering 2-0 defeat of all time

Those hoping for a revival from Son I think is a pipe dream, I'd play Perisic, but we defo need another wide forward for Ange system

I'd say it was United's best performance of the season, all round. Unfortunately we didn't repeat it too many times. Fred was quality

That 2-0 win wasn’t probably in our top 15 games last season for domination at home.
