Spurs v Utd

Against Brenford, Spurs did reasonably well to recover from a wobbly moment in the game, when we lost Romero who looked solid up until then and also contributed to a goal.

Resilience
Make no mistake, it showed resilience to turn around a disaster moment in the game, when we lost Romero and then we gave we away a penalty that was as soft as any given against any side in the PL.

Officials again hand opposition a banal penalty
It was a ridiculous decision and worst still, on field officials didn't it give so why was this referred to the official by VAR people? No obvious mistake in this? Just the type of things official love to dish out to some clubs and other clubs don't give pens even if their player took out a sledgehammer and beat the opposition players with it in their box!

The return of Romero
For me, the news that Romero is back is huge. First off, he will provide solidity at the back, secondly he could be a massive target for Maddison in setpieces. So Romero has impact on defense and attack.

This is the first time we are able to see how this new shape defense looks like for more than just the few minutes against Brentford - where an emergency substitution depraved us of this.

Potential line-up
This is the potential line-up same as it was the starting one at Brentford

Vicario; Emerson, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Skipp, Maddison; Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son

Prediction
No score prediction from me.
I would say it would be a great time to put some marker on the ambitions of the season, by starting well at home today.

I believe Spurs can take all three points here, specially if you have watched United literally stealing 3 points on Monday, with a very below average performance for one the teams marked as chasing the second spot by media.

Players to watch (Spurs)

It would interesting to watch all the home match debutants, likes of Maddison, Udogie, VDV and hopefully, Solomon at some stage of the game

I’m worried about United on the counter especially with Rashfords pace coming from the left, even if he is playing striker he should stick himself over there as he will get plenty of joy that side

Ref the penalty last week didn’t think it was soft at all ….. I thought it was nailed on …..Son clearly clipped his ankles

Lot of people highlighted the Rashford factor, because of how well Brentford left back got successful foraging into Spurs half.

It remains to be seen.

Will be interesting l, spurs new look attacking style vs us on the counter. Sadly for you I fancy us to win using counters, but if we play like last week anything can happen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am hoping for us to give a good account of ourselves and build on the promises shown at Brentford. As long as do that with some flair and attacking exicting play, then I am happy as this is a team in transition.

Might be too early yet, but I think that you will become a very entertaining team to watch under angle- out of all the top clubs outside utd, I’ll be most interested in spurs progress

The signs are there tbh. When you think we had 70% (close) of possession this was unheard of of Spurs of last 2/3 seasons.

The average age is very low too so the team can only grow together and get better.

Probably best to just hope for more but expect a reasonable season.

Your counter attacks are going to cause us problems

Bigger worry for me is I’m at Liverpool Street and my mates are in a pub called Dirty D icks

Not happy about having that in my Google search history

Brentford are current better than United and we're playing at home. United look absolutely trash coming into this season.
