The wrang Jota?

Hoo boy. Work is just mad this morning.

How’s everyone else doing?

Anyway. Here’s one for the Ooft Files:

Ittihad legend Mohammad Nour gave a stinging verdict of the Celtic Treble winner insisting that it was a the correct call to offload Jota - despite his big money move last month. The former AFC Champions League and Pro League winner told SBA Sport: "It has been clear through recent matches that Jota is not suitable for the federation. It is better to change it now than start the season with it and failing later. I thank the federation management for its courage in making such a brave decision."

I’d take Jota back in a heartbeat. I’d be excited to see how BR would ruin him. Not a euphemism.

why wasn't Vata in the squad?

surely a better option on the bench than playing against Berwick Rangers the day before

Celtic would be mad not to make him an offer. Same salary he was on before plus a hefty % of his next sale and a low enough sell on fee that he doesn't need to worry about good bids being knocked back.

Rodgers was impressed by Celtic’s scouting and capture of Johnston, and he feels the MLS is a market that could well be explored more to unearth some hidden gems.

The Northern Irishman knows all too well the struggles of competing in England with mega-money flying around, but he believes Celtic are exploring in the right markets.

He added: “Very. I think that’s why you see the strategy of Mark (Lawell) and the guys, going to markets that were maybe untouched and the deals you can get in.

“You look at the Premier League or even the Championship. It’s a very expensive market for players and wages.

“That is a real challenge for a club like ourselves. Coming back here, that was something I had to understand better, and why I took that time to decide.

“The club has to be sustainable while being successful. But it’s understanding where it is at in terms of what you can and can’t do.

“I’ll always work with the players the club provide me and try to develop them to be best the possibly can. The hopefully makes the club successful and allows them to move on, make money and we go again.”

For a change I’m totally on the same page as BR on all of that. What I find astonishing though is that he’s saying he’s only NOW wising up to the markets we should/shouldn’t be shopping in, and the financial realities we face. Been pretty obvious for at least a decade to anybody with half a brain, surely?!

So the links to Podence and Fraser are press p.sh?

My concerns is 'players the club provide me'. MIght be poor grammar as Nicholson does the negotiation but it implies he is leaving it to them? Contrast what AP said at the weekend that he trusts nobody else to select the players. Might be extrapolating too far on our recruitment procedures but worrying.

Worrying indeed. Also the vvank’s maybe just getting his first self-preservation message out there, that if this all goes tats up they weren’t my players. Has previous for similar messaging at Leicester.

This is going to be a long season, and thus far a cloud of negativity is all i can see.
