Hate to go all 'conspiracy theory' here, I mean it's not that deep, but is he really injured?
When you think about it, he's our new 70m signing which got an awful lot of media coverage, and since we've bought him, we all know our midfield has been non-existent and we've been craap.
If you've just bought a new player, and want to take him out of the squad without anyone noticing or criticising, surely a very short, 2-game injury is the ideal way to do that?
Is Mount really injured?

Yes.

I'd be worried if we create a mystery injury to drop our new midfield signing. He hasn't been brilliant but he's been far from the worse player on show.
Goals do change perceptions of performances though. Had we taken some of ours early in the two games then the mood is very different. Let's hope we start with a proper No9 on Saturday. If we do I think we'll see a difference.

Apart from the fact that he cost £55m not £70m, has been far from our worst player and wouldn’t be dropped and is clearly actually injured, this is a great article so well done OP

He is injured. If there was a player whose injury legitimacy I would question it would be a certain 190k a week, 6th choice centre back tbh. But injuries happen

Mount has been far from our worst player, and has largely done what ETH wants (leading the press, helping win the ball high up the pitch). He wouldn't be dropped at this point. He's injured.

I doubt ETH wants Mount to have created nothing, lost the ball quite a bit and barely been involved.
The only part of his game that’s been okay is his pressing.
He is injured though.

You have a fertile imagination.

Doubt it. In fact, faking an injury and missing England duty where he would get less attention, help fitness, and play in a system and players he does well in, would be stupid.

There have been several shots resulting from him either winning the ball himself or from pressing actions that he initiated. If we had a forward line that didn't feature a left winger at centre forward and a very raw talent at left wing, I suspect common wisdom would have a different impression of Mount's impact.

If this is the case everyone except Onana, Varane & maybe AWB should be picking up phantom injuries.
