I dont get it, last season pretty much the whole Defence was poor, in fact I'd say VVD was probably the worst....but I dont see any hate for him this season? Only appears to be Matip and Gomez, to my mind they had a bad season as most did for us last time out.
Yeah they make mistakes, but err.....TAA anyone?? Matip and Gomez are top players just in bad form last season, I'm backing them this season esp with the mf additions.

They're not top players. They're decent back ups but their reliability fitness wise undermines even that.

Gomez was decent once but that last injury really has set him back. He is now an average squad player as a cb but as rb I think he is actually decent.

I certainly dont hate them however for a club wanting to challenge for titles and konate being a crock they arent good enough anymore to step in and be reliable/good enough. They WERE but both have too many mistake in them now after injuries/age in matips case

I actually think both Gomez and Matip are good enough for a title challenging team....ie us.
