Pascal looks like the player we thought we
had under MB. Four clowns messed him up.
Farke comes in and plays him in his preferred
position and voila. We have a solid, young, LCB.

Was out for a goodbye meal with guest so missed game watched it this morning.
Thought first goal was one of those things that happens to central defenders when they try to intercept crosses, seen it countless times.
Difficult to tell from the camera angle but it may well have been off side but came as the result of a ball over the top on Bill's side. Again another goal with Ayling miles out of position and miles too slow to get back. Rodon put it in the net but you have to question positioning.

At least Bill turned up to the game. Pretty lame excuse not to watch it live.
A ball over the top isn’t one players positioning now is it? Unless Ayling was not in line with the other defenders which he was. It’s a fault of playing too high a line with slow defenders and it’s happened to us countless times this season on both flanks in every game.

Ball over the top was a constant tactic from
Ipswich and it happened countless times on the right too with good chances created as a result. But no one chastising Byram for that. Afraid there are lots looking for an example to chastise Ayling every week. Same with Meslier…. one ‘example’ and they pile in.
Football ain’t perfect and players aren’t foolproof every second of every game. Vast majority of goals occur when one person isn’t quite in the right position to block/intercept. So it’s ALWAYS going to be ‘someone’s’ fault ain’t it 🤷♂️
Just think constant barraging of ‘non-favourite’ players is unfair & unnecessary.

If you are implying that I have an anti-Ayling agenda, it simply isn't the case, time and time again I have posted in the positve about him. The own goal was an unfortunate occurance that CB's are prone to due to where they play but you go back a second or two and you see that Ipswich's long ball has caught Bill out of position, they've clearly done their homework. something we need to work on. Teams will find us out.
You cannot argue with that.
Talking about agendas, had Drameh been in Ayling's position, can you imagine. Wakey was calling for the lad to be axed despite the fact he was being asked to play in a position that as far as I am aware he has never played in before. He is a right back who can play at right midfield but not a left back.

CD was poor but played out of position and I cannot see how a player who has proven himself at this level over the last two years with both Cardiff and Luton is not good enough, with a year's more experience under his belt, to do a job for us. I keep harking back to his performances for the U23's (as it was then) with Summerville where the two of them were unplayable on occasion. You didn't watch it.
The person on here who said, well he has played at left back before so he should be able to do a job, really doesn't know what they are talking about, maybe for the U23's or on loan perhaps, not for us he hasn't. I got the impression that yesterday the lack of investment at that position really came home to roost. It showed just how little faith DF has in Hjelde, which backs up your point about not playing people out of position, as does Drameh's performance.
I woke up wondering what might have happened if he'd switched Ayling to left back and played Drameh at his natural position, I guess Bill would have struggled as well. The issues Drameh faced were, in my mind because we have only one natural left back at the club, and love or loath him he is out injured and nobody, once Byram is out, has the skill set to play that position.
Farke must have looked at this in training, Drameh, must have seemed the next best option, followed by Shacks and then followed by Hjelde. That in itself is a concern. Though Leo is only 19 and has time to develop.
Jamie Shackleton, I like as a human being, he comes across as very genuine. I like the way he works his socks off and there is something of a Dallas about him. I do think he gets a lot of credit because he's come through the acadamy. He will have more lousy games and get away with them because of his Leeds connection. Will not be a starter and we need better if we are to challenge for promotion.

I've always liked Shacks. There's something about
him in the way there was with Andy Hughes. Just gets
on with whatever he's asked to do. Honest player.
Marcelo liked his versatility. Why shouldn't we?
Like I've said before, I hope we keep him around.
Farke will find ways to use him. And if we don't get
a new RB in before the window closes, he could
act as Bill's back up. Among many other positions.

Struijk’s form went under Bielsa. So unless you want to question the messiah I wouldn’t be blaming coaches. He has the attributes (turning circle of a supertanker not withstanding) but just looks mentally fragile and struggles with positioning and defensive instincts/judgement. Hope he proves me wrong but personally I lost patience with him a while back.

Farke’s teams are never great defensively. He likes progressive fullbacks so you need midfield cover and paced athletic defenders to compensate. We don’t have them (still) in my opinion so whilst the champ is more forgiving than the prem I think we can expect some high scoring games, especially if we don’t add more defenders this week.

We need two full backs (RB & LB).
Get those in and we look infinitely better.

Batty, you’re sounding like a broken record😁. Then again, so are the most of us😁👍
