Man Utd consider surprise move for Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

It wouldn’t be United if we weren’t running around on deadline day trying to sign literally anybody who would want us. This club will never be different until the Glazers just facking die lads.

You lot are finished. Ten Hag being given transfer power has somehow made you even worse in the market

We need a midfielder who can run, who can get up and down and is a true box to box. I don't see how that is Hojbjerg.

Good player 60M plus excluding add ons would be fair.

That's exactly what he is

Can't remember if I did an article or may have just commented on one on this fella when he first signed for Spurs.
Was very impressed with him. The kind of player who did loads but was over looked because Kane or Son were banging them in etc.
He was every where, breaking up play. Starting the little pass forward.
Haven't watched spurs in a while so maybe he has declined. But remember thinking he was a bargain and we should have signed a player like him.

PEH is a bit hard to judge as he was signed by Jose and used all the time by him and Conte in systems which looked to defend and stop the opposition.
He often seemed like a bit of a handbrake as his passing vision is not brilliant so it would often be safe BUT that is what the managers demanded, safe use of the ball.
Its interesting to see how Big Ange has used him so far, as a late sub as we see out a game, adding that experience, that calm and a bit more steel to the CM. He's actually looked quite good and although i was a big advocate to get rid of PEH, if we got a decent bid (£30m) I can also see the benefit of keeping him in this non / occasional starting role. Same also true of Perisic.
Going off on a tangent slightly, its very refreshing to see a new man come in and use these players in the way that most fans think is correct. PEH and Perisic should not be automatic starters, but were used like this. They are decent players but not right to be relied upon in a high energy progressive team.
For this reason i am not sure PEH is what United need right now. If you want energy & box to box then McT would be as good. If you want passing and vision then he aint the right man at all.

McTominay is better.
He does the same thing but is more powerful and scores goals.

I don’t really mind Hojberg and a few seasons ago before Jose got him I wanted us to sign him but it does seem odd we’re going for PL cast offs like Mount, PEH and Cucarella. Surely we have better youth players or actual better players we can sign?

Spurs aren't loaning him to us so there's going to be a sizeable fee involved. It's a total non starter.

What bothers me is the lack of consistency in the profile of midfielders we have targeted. Last year we went from Frenkie (first phase specialist / dribbler) to Rabiot (strong runner) to Casemiro (defensive block). This summer after Mount (high energy pressing machine) we looked interested in Amrabat (first phase specialist) but also Gravenberch (box to box) and now Hojberg.
And we didn't show any interest in Locatelli when he was supposedly available at a low price.
