Our best transfer window?

As a club we’ve had some shockers but ones that we can class as successful are thin on the ground.

2007? Tevez, Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves was superb. But have we had any good ones since SAF left?

2020 was possibly the worst. On paper I liked 2014 when it happened but I don’t think any turned out to be real successes bar perhaps Shaw but even he’s taken an age to get going.

Can't think of many good ones in hindsight. 07 was probably the best - it might not look that way in hindsight but the first team didn't actually need much work at that point - what those players brought to the squad though made us competitive on all fronts.

The 2 worst, ironically, were the one when we let Ronaldo go and the one where we brought Ronaldo back.

We'd kill for Nani now, massively underrated. Hardest thing for him is he was getting compared to a Ballon D'or winner in Ronaldo.

It gave us stronger squad depth, but it’s not like we weren’t a strong team the season before. Carrick being our only signing the season before had a bigger overall impact on the team than any of the signings we made in 07. And was vastly more influential in his time at the club. If we can’t use hindsight to judge the windows then 06 summer was a crap window, as everyone went mental that he was the only signing. Hindsight tells us otherwise, as it did in 07, where the myth of this superb window lives on, despite all the signings being relative failures, Nani aside.

Actually, in hindsight our best was probably January 2006

Just it if interest have we managed to get rid of Jones yet or is he still loitering around the Carrington Physio room.

Yep. Vida and Evra were significantly more influential for Manchester United than Tevez, Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves were. It’s one of the best windows we’ve ever had.

he's slowly being removed in instalments, body part by body part.

Cancel that. He has probably been declared unfit to loiter.

Cheating but if you take 2006 as a year (both windows) and that was possibly the best year for signings for us with Vidic, Evra and Carrick coming in

And everyone was going mental at the time because Vida and Evra looked dodgy at first and Carrick wasn’t the Keane replacment everyone craved. Our recruitment really went downhill after that year.
