Bolton Wanderers v Derby County

Match Day and its a big one. 2 of the promotion favourites meet at the toughsheet community stadium. Bolton in 3rd were on a roal winning the first 4 games before hitting that bump in the road with a 4-0 smashing by Wigan, stopped the rot slightly with a draw at burton then dumped out of the cup against Middlesbrough in midweek. Derby in 8th have won 3 out of 5 league games and have an 100% away record. A double header with Salford at home on Tuesday then we break until reading away on the 16th after the international break.

The transfer window is now shut until January. The only movement was out on deadline day. Declan John signed for Salford on loan until January and Keiran Sadlier is now a free agent. Summing up this window. 6 players have signed permanently, 2 on loan. 7 have left the club along with 5 loan players who returned to their parent clubs. Leaves a first team squad of 22. 20 are on long term contracts with just Jerome and Böðvarsson out of contract in the summer so some stability there.

Team news. Out of that 22 we have George Johnston likely out for the season, Rico Santos out for an unspecified time and keeper Joel Coleman was estimated for 6 weeks after being subbed at ht against Middlesbrough. B team keeper Luke Hutchinson has been recalled from his loan at Hyde as cover for the only fit senior keeper Nathan Baxter.

Kick off is 3pm.

Two poor sides and an even worse referee yesterday.

1. Your pen wasn't even a foul and it was outside the area.

2. Our goalie didn't handle the ball outside his area.

3. We were denied at least one blatant penalty second half.

0-0 would have been a fair result, but we were digshite.

The ref got both penalties and the sending off right. No var involved just good decision making. Quite refreshing

Eoin Toal called up by northern Ireland. Not happy with this. Coming after a bad injury should be rested until the next game and play for Ireland the next one when fully fit .

Just wondering if Mendes Gomes is the new Kieran Sadlier. Already played as an attacking midfielder, a 2nd striker and now right wing back.

Are you not bothering with the Salford game at home in the efl cup on Tues night?
I'd tell you to look on the club site for fixtures, but it gives me a headache going on there.

Tues will give us another run out and allow IE some more experimentation time. It could be a lucky dip team for us as, I'm sure IE will want to rest a few.

As it happens Pasty, I was going to mention it this morning. I need to be more concise when posting, I should have said in the league. This is what happens when you get old. The marbles start rolling in different directions.

We have a good record against Salford and we seem to draw them at home which is a bonus. I hope that we can carry on the winning formula against them but we will just have to wait and see.

The team is certain to change, we will probably have as many as eight changes, although, with no league game on Saturday, Evatt could spring a surprise or two.

This is our second goal. As far as I can see no one else except Cogley touched the ball. What do you think?

Scouse. It was a tight game but I think you need to visit Spec Savers. 3 points for us were justified on the day.

We could have a threadbare squad in action tomorrow night.
Is it going to be worth bothering with.
