Thiago Silva.
I'm not enthused about seeing him in the first-choice lineup any longer, having a detrimental effect on the pitch, a weaklink...sticking out like a sore thumb and I saw this a mile off 👉

View before season started hasn't unwavered from this standpoint. Performances reinforced that view. Shouldn't have to rely on a 39 year old.
Of course there will be trials and tribulations along the way but we'd generally be better off without Silva starting, to evolve and progress the backline.
Colwill & Badiashile captains of junior national side.
Disasi' captained at Monaco, alongside Badiashile in defence.
A budding partnership which only lost and drew once, in their final eleven matches together at Monaco. That was presumably one of the primary reasons why Disasi was bought in the first place + flawless injury record.
4 games, one glaring common dominator...

"The club need to move up the league significantly this season whilst simultaneously developing the squad."
Yes, and both are not mutually exclusive.
For reference the one time, manager stuck it out with the youth in the recent years was actually one of our most rewarding seasons, I'm alluding to when Frank was in charge first stint...put his faith in Tammy, Mount, Reece, Tomori etc.. abilities and it paid-off, they were a large part of why objectives were achieved that season. Looking for the sort of uplift this season.
In an alternative (abhorrent) universe where experience reigned...
Could have been up with Hysaj over Reece
Barkley over Mount
Higuain over Tammy
And so on..
Anyways, I digressed. Pochettino has a track record of accomplishing that from his time at Southampton & Spurs (worse squads), extracting optimal performance from lowest average squads and team, that's his niche (the primary appeal and remit in appointing him in the first place).
Pochettino is fully aware of what he signed up to and I'm sure his very much looking forward to working with useful dedicated tools. Blank canvas.
What would be the point of employing a manager in Pochettino that specialises in building, thriving, elevating up the table with the lowest of average age young squads, competitive environment...if we now lumber him with experience senior players that lacks hunger, come for a payday with very little incentive to improve and actually tends to take an age adapting to Ideals? Counter-productive.
Experience is one of the contributing factors into the mess club got themselves into. If we want remain languishing down the lower end of the table, then yes buying high-profile experience is essential.
No interest in the need for "Premier League experienced" or "Premier League Proven" gimmick.

I wont dissect every point, but all I will end with is...Patience is a virtue.

Well naturally, but still i think the context for the club , not me, is governed by the need to be FFP compliant, and top flight European, C/L represents 100m + per season in revenue, and other enhanced revenue streams due to the status that inclusion of that competition brings.
I personally would prefer that the club gave the squad 2 seasons to regain this status, but amortizing at 200m + per season , with a wage bill in the region of 200m ( 10% reduction) and operating costs at 100m + requires the club to turnover 500m per season plus, to maintain FFP compliance.
Which is what it is not doing now.
FFP beaches will incur financial penalties, transfer bans, point deduction, and ultimately relegation.
All of which i do not believe will be good for the club.
The EPL is not the Italian league , where the like s of Juve and Inter can drop a league and rebound easily.
This can be recognized as potential repercussions or dismissed as nothing to care about.

The one stars on your Silva articles have the wrong idea. Despite the fact he's over the age of 20, and pretty much pushed the likes of Tomori & Gushi out, it took you approx two years to start sniping him whenever possible. That's more of an endorsement of his class & quality than anything I or anyone else can say about him on here
