Double jeopardy rule only applies to a straight red card decision if denying a goal scoring opportunity where there’s a genuine attempt to play the ball. Lagerbielke made no attempt to play the ball, and although it wasn’t a clear goal scoring opportunity, it was probably a booking. It was only a red because it was his second yellow.

Elsewhere on the park and that is a definite foul and yellow card. There’s no way in Europe you get away with throwing your arm across an opponent.

I'm not convinced. Refs ain't consistent.

Just watching real Sociedad game, identical incident in penalty box, even proper contact to face,. Var rule it’s ok so game plays on. 🤷♂️

We know all that! The point I was making is that common sense says there should be an extrapolation of that rule simply because it was introduced to not 'over-punish' one specific circumstance without any 'trickle down' interpretation allowance for other circumstances where the punishment exceeds the crime.

Ah! Ok.
Seems as if refs just follow the rules and how they’re supposed to interpret them. Common sense stopped years ago.

It wasn't a penalty lets be honest
defenders all over the world do that every game shielding the ball going out of play
it was just a daft thing to do but it was never a penalty
if it hadn't of been given by the ref VAR wouldn't of overturned it

daft but very harsh.
more annoyingly is that the second it was given the wee pwrick jumped up celebrating.

Well said.
The first goal wasn't a goal either. The Feyenoord players were interfering with the wall. Should've been retaken.
