Onto the next one

Brighton at home in the league cup -

Petrovic
*Chalobah (c) Disasi Colwill Chilwell
Caicedo Ugochukwu
Madueke Palmer **Maatsen
Jackson

Looking forward to full debut for Petrovic, work permit issue stopped this from happening against Wimbledon. Petrovic & Sanchez on the books, strong competition
Madueke & Palmer know each others game inside out.
Broja, Colwill, Maatsen have that academy connection.
Both Broja and Jackson together could work in tandem, 90 minutes for the latter as he misses Fulham and needs the confidence goal booster (know the quality is within to score goals, they will arrive, zero concerns at this stage on that front). Broja 60 mins or so, starting against Fulham.
Ideally Badiashile plays, alongside Disasi but unlikely at the minute with recent setback.

*Gusto appeal worth a try, with or without Chalobah.
Watching this back... was a scandulous decision.
**Broja minutes off the bench, confirmed.

This blindly driven smash across the face of goal type (overhit) cross at pace is one I'll never be an advocate of...especially when you have beaten the fullback all ends up, have time to measure and pick out a player in the box, under no pressure. Applies to any player that does this.
Grates on me.
Not every action has to be 100mph.

Knowing when to decelerate and accelerate actions is what makes a top-level footballer thrive.
Which again Cal had mastered from a very young age early in his development...*Ahem* watch and learn -

The benchmark.
Second to none at understanding forwards movements. Not everyone is blessed with God-Given (complete) talent and technical quality.
The art of perfectly weighted measured excellence pick outs is lost on many, invariably leads to and yields significant goals contribution than your lower percentage bog-standard blasted crosses which often leaves little to no chance for the forward in or arriving into the box.

These were from Mudryk
That his niche trademark move. Saw that early last season as well, so he's consistent on that.

Dropped points is not through a lack of effort or desire, just the last bit sorely missing to kill teams.

Good coaching moves here.
Ruthless nature and killer instinct isn't there yet from the experience players nor the young players, will click eventually.
Abundant amount of times this team is able to position and arrive in advantageous areas within the box is encouraging, a lot more than the previous season.

Vastly experienced Sterling (+ Chilwell) for example...messed up our easiest chances of scoring at the weekend, should know better.

Agreed, the issues are bigger than one player.

Im sure if you did actually see the whole game, but we are nowhere near being a goal scoring threat.

But the role Jackson plays, comes with an expectation of taking chances, scoring goals and not toting up cards as we are not blessed with an abundance of goal scorers, if he is not on the pitch.

Are Jackson’s yellow cards for dreadful finishing?

Mf, do you think that if we keep changing the starting line, this will be conducive to building any type of consistency ?

(typo) starting line up ( i'm at work)

No choice but to keep changing the lineup at present (see injury list)...

Provided one is smart with the changes, yes consistency can be built.
Rotation is required to avoid injuries, there are players that have played alot of football and should be rested or will suffer the consequences of fatigue or worse long lay-off and others that haven't played enough that need the minutes...squad game.
Workload must be shared to stay competitive, avoid injuries and keep the morale up of players that don't usually get much of a look-in.

Certain players that I've selected that have to be played into form, which would be in our best interest going forward.
A balancing act that Pochettino will figure out.

Brighton will do the same, changes will be made from their first choice lineup.

I agree about the injury list , (10) but i do believe we do have another 18 other players to select from.

Yes, Rotation, workload , to stay competitive all sweeping statements.

But in the context of, we have dropped 13 out of 18 points and we do have a run of games coming up that may well result in us only achieving 6 points out of the next 24 , resulting in 11 points on the table by early December.

Do we need to try to maintain a settled 11, to move up the table,or is the issue the other 18 players Poch has to choose from are not providing us with the required strength in depth to confidently do so ?

Is the current table position of greater importance or does the necessity for rotation, the spreading of workload and trying to stay competitive ( the latter we are currently failing at ) carry more weight.

The 1971 Arsenal double winning side , used no more than 14 players, in what i would suggest were far more combative times on the pitch, where physical contact was part of the game.( just saying )
