Bolton Wanderers v Manchester United u21s

A break from league action and back to the defence of the EFL Trophy won on that glorious day at Wembley in April. Tonights opponents Manchester United u21s who bolton knocked out of the trophy last season. Their first team is at home in the efl cup tonight so this may affect how strong tonights side could be and the crowd as I understand tickets were sold before Uniteds first team game was scheduled. Shortire who played at bolton on loan last season is the u21 captain. Could Sancho be involved? Bolton top of this league at least and a win for the whites qualifies them for the knockout stage with 1 game to go away to Stockport in November. Team news. Several injuries in the squad. Johnston, Coleman, Mendes Gomes, Maghoma, Santos out injured. Charles and Dempsey are carrying injury and will be rested. Toal returns from suspension and Jones and Thomason are available before starting their suspensions on Saturday. Sounds like b team players will be involved from off the bench. Likely side. Baxter Jones Forrester toal. Dacres-cogley Sheehan Thomason Morley, Ashworth. Böðvarsson Adeboyejo. Kick off is 7.45 and if a draw at full time then a point each and a penalty shoot out for an extra point. We want the 3 points though so let's get this done tonight.

Cancel all theories IE has spoken, he's been in the toy box bashing shapes into the big red post box with holes in it.

“I’ll probably have to call upon players to play out of position and we need to find a way to get some points over the next three games".

I hope he doesn't pick a sore thumb bashing square pegs into round holes.

Generally speaking, playing players out of position doesn't work.

I remember Colin Todd Playing players out of position when he had players fit who could have played in their natural position. It didn't work and we lost games.

Peter Pan, (his name escapes me) signed from Newcastle at the end of his career was one of them and he was the biggest waste of money that season and many more. He was a real prima donna.

However, Evatt keeps saying that we have a squad of players that can play in multiple positions. Let's hope that he is right.

I don't see where he's going to play a square peg in a round hole as Saturdays side picks itself. Dacres-cogley for Jones, Dempsey for Thomason. The only depth is in the attack 3 strikers will be on the bench along 4 b team players.

You know how determined IE can be at times. If he says the square peg goes in the triangle shaped hole, he'll get it in somehow.
If you see him arrive with a bandaged thumb on Saturday morning, you'll know he has a cunning plan!

Ashworth is back fit and Dacres-cogley hasn't trained due to the birth of his child on Tuesday. So that's your square peg. Williams will play right back and Ashworth left back. Should be Matheson. He's good enough.

We won't have long to wait, tomorrow will reveal all. I think that it will be a hard game but if the players can knock a few in like they did on Tuesday, we will be OK. However, I think that it will be a tight game and we will hopefully nick it.

Any sort of win will do tomorrow.
Grab all the points we can, before another international break interrupts things.

Oh No it's Saturday.

And what will it bring, tears or smiling faces? I'm hoping for a big smile when the game ends.

We will just have to wait and see.

It's the waiting to find out and the time you find out that's the problem.
It can ruin a good day or lift a bad day but you can't get through the day by trying not to think about it.
